Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.

When it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah Hath sent down, "they say, "We believe in what was sent down to us:" yet they reject all besides, even if it be Truth confirming what is with them. Say: "Why then have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed believe?"

Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.

When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance?

Those who conceal Allah's revelations in the Book, and purchase for them a miserable profit,- they swallow into themselves naught but Fire; Allah will not address them on the Day of Resurrection. Nor purify them: Grievous will be their penalty.

When ye divorce women, and they fulfil the term of their ('Iddat), either take them back on equitable terms or set them free on equitable terms; but do not take them back to injure them, (or) to take undue advantage; if any one does that; He wrongs his own soul. Do not treat Allah's Signs as a jest, but solemnly rehearse Allah's favours on you, and the fact that He sent down to you the Book and Wisdom, for your instruction. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is well acquainted with all things.

He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.

After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, Moved by wrong suspicions of Allah-suspicions due to ignorance. They said: "What affair is this of ours?" Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed, and to the Messenger": Thou seest the Hypocrites avert their faces from thee in disgust.

O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.

But Allah beareth witness that what He hath sent unto thee He hath sent from His (own) knowledge, and the angels bear witness: But enough is Allah for a witness.

It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah's will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah's book, and they were witnesses thereto: therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.

We ordained therein for them: "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah, or saith, "I have received inspiration," when he hath received none, or (again) who saith, "I can reveal the like of what Allah hath revealed"? If thou couldst but see how the wicked (do fare) in the flood of confusion at death! - the angels stretch forth their hands, (saying),"Yield up your souls: this day shall ye receive your reward,- a penalty of shame, for that ye used to tell lies against Allah, and scornfully to reject of His signs!"

It is He Who sendeth down rain from the skies: with it We produce vegetation of all kinds: from some We produce green (crops), out of which We produce grain, heaped up (at harvest); out of the date-palm and its sheaths (or spathes) (come) clusters of dates hanging low and near: and (then there are) gardens of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety): when they begin to bear fruit, feast your eyes with the fruit and the ripeness thereof. Behold! in these things there are signs for people who believe.

Say: "Shall I seek for judge other than Allah? - when He it is Who hath sent unto you the Book, explained in detail." They know full well, to whom We have given the Book, that it hath been sent down from thy Lord in truth. Never be then of those who doubt.

But Allah did pour His calm on the Messenger and on the Believers, and sent down forces which ye saw not: He punished the Unbelievers; thus doth He reward those without Faith.

The Arabs of the desert are the worst in Unbelief and hypocrisy, and most fitted to be in ignorance of the command which Allah hath sent down to His Messenger: But Allah is All-knowing, All-Wise.

Say: "See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah?"

"If not Him, ye worship nothing but names which ye have named,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah hath sent down no authority: the command is for none but Allah: He hath commanded that ye worship none but Him: that is the right religion, but most men understand not...

He sends down water from the skies, and the channels flow, each according to its measure: But the torrent bears away to foam that mounts up to the surface. Even so, from that (ore) which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is a scum likewise. Thus doth Allah (by parables) show forth Truth and Vanity. For the scum disappears like forth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. Thus doth Allah set forth parables.

It is He who sends down rain from the sky: from it ye drink, and out of it (grows) the vegetation on which ye feed your cattle.

天地的创造，昼夜的轮流，利人航海的船舶，真主从云中降下雨水，借它而使已死的大地复生，并在大地上散布各种动物，与风向的改变，天地间受制的云，对於能了解的人看来，此中确有许多迹象。

有人劝他们说：“你们应当遵守真主所降示的经典。”他们就说：“不然，我们要遵守我们祖先的遗教。”即使他们的祖先无知无识，不循正道（他们仍要遵守他们的遗教）吗？

隐讳真主所降示的经典，而以廉价出卖它的人，只是把火吞到肚子里去，在复活日，真主既不和他们说话，又不涤除他们的罪恶，他们将受痛苦的刑罚。

当你们休妻，而她们待婚满期的时候，你们当以善意挽留她们，或以优礼解放她们；不要为妨害她们而加以挽留，以便你们侵害她们。谁做了这件事，谁确已自欺了。你们不要把真主的迹象当做笑柄，你们当铭记真主所赐你们的恩惠，铭记他降示你们天经和智慧，用以教训你们。你们当敬畏真主，当知道真主对於万物是全知的。

他降示你这部经典，其中有许多明确的节文，是全经的基本；还有别的许多隐微的节文。心存邪念的人，遵从隐微的节文，企图淆惑人心，探求经义的究竟。只有真主和学问文精通的人才知道经义的究竟。他们说：“我们已确信它，明确的和隐微的，都是从我们的主那里降示的。惟有理智的人，才会觉悟。

在忧患之后，他又降安宁给你们，使你们中一部分人瞌睡；另一部分人则为自身而焦虑，他们象蒙昧时代的人一样，对真主妄加猜测，他们说：“我们有一点胜利的希望吗?”你说：“一切事情，的确都是真主所主持的。”他们的心里怀着不敢对你表示的恶意；他们说：“假若我们有一点胜利的希望，我们的同胞不致阵亡在这里。”你说：“假若你们坐在家里，那么命中注定要阵亡的人，必定外出，走到他们阵亡的地方；（真主这样做），以便他试验你们的心事，锻炼你们心中的信仰。真主是全知心事的。”

有人对他们说：“你们来向真主和使者起诉吧”，你会看到伪信者回避你。

信道的人们啊！你们当确信真主和使者，以及他所降示给使者的经典，和他以前所降示的经典。谁不信真主、天神、经典、使者、末日，谁确已深入迷误了。

但真主作证他所降示你的经典是真实的----他降示此经时，自知其内容--众天神也同样作证。真主足为见证。

我确已降示《讨拉特》，其中有向导和光明，归顺真主的众先知，曾依照它替犹太教徒进行判决，一般明哲和博士，也依照他们所奉命护持的天经而判决，并为其见证，故你们不要畏惧人，当畏惧我，不要以我的迹象去换取些微的代价。谁不依照真主所降示的经典而判决，谁是不信道的人。

我在《讨拉特》中对他们制定以命偿命，以眼偿眼，以鼻偿鼻，以耳偿耳，以牙偿牙；－切创伤，都要抵偿。自愿不究的人，得以抵偿权自赎其罪愆。凡不依真主所降示的经典而判决的人，都是不义的。

信奉《引支勒》的人，当依真主在《引支勒》中所降示的律例而判决。凡不依真主所降示的经典而判决的人，都是犯罪的。

我降示你这部包含真理的经典，以证实以前的一切天经，而监护之。故你当依真主所降示的经典而为他们判决，你不要舍弃降临你的真理而顺从他们的私欲。我已为你们中每一个民族制定一种教律和法程。如果真主意欲，他必使你们变成一个民族。但他把你们分成许多民族，以便他考验你们能不能遵守他所赐予你们的教律和法程。故你们当争先为善。你们全体都要归于真主，他要把你们所争论的是非告诉你们。

你当依真主所降示的经典而替他们判决，你不要顺从他们的私欲，你当谨防他们引诱你违背真主所降示你的一部分经典。如果他们违背正道，那末，你须知真主欲因他们的一部分罪过，而惩罚他们。有许多人，确是犯罪的。

假借真主的名义而造谣的，自称奉到启示，其实，没有奉到任何启示的人，或妄言要像真主那样降示天经的人，这等人谁比他们还不义呢？不义的人正在临死的苦痛中，众天神伸著手说：“你们拿出你们的灵魂吧！今天你们要受辱刑的报酬，因为你们假借真主的名义而造谣，并藐视他的迹象。”那时，假若你看见他们的情状，……。

他从云中降下雨水，用雨水使一切植物发芽，长出翠绿的枝叶，结出累累的果实，从海枣树的花被中结出－串串枣球；用雨水浇灌许多葡萄园，浇灌相似的和不相似的橄榄和石榴，当果树结果的时候，你们看看那些果实和成熟的情形吧。对于信道的民众，此中确有许多迹象。

（你说）：”真主已降示你们详明的天经，难道我还要舍真主而别求判决者吗？”蒙我赏赐经典的人，他们知道这是你的主降示的，包含真理的经典，故你绝不要犹豫。

后来，真主把宁静降于其使者和信士们，并降下你们所未见的军队，他惩治了不信道者，那是不信道者的报酬。

游牧的阿拉伯人是更加不信的，是更加伪信的，是更不能明白真主降示其使者的法度的。真主是全知的，是至睿的。

你说：“你们告诉我吧！真主为你们降下的给养，你们把它分为违法的与合法的，你们究竟是奉真主的命令呢？还是假借真主的名义而造谣呢？”

你们舍真主而崇拜的，只是你们和你们的祖先所定的一些（偶像的）名称，真主并未加以证实，一切判决只归真主。他命令你们只崇拜他。这才是正教。但世人大半不知道。

真主从云中降下雨水，一切沟壑就尽量流行。山洪载著浮渣--他们为制造首饰和器皿而熔化的金属，也有同样的浮渣。真主如此阐明真伪--至于渣滓则被冲走，至于有益于人的东西则留存在地面上。真主如此阐明许多比喻。

他从云中降下雨水，你们可以用做饮料，你们赖以放牧的树木因之而生长。
