When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?

When they do aught that is shameful, they say: "We found our fathers doing so"; and "Allah commanded us thus": Say: "Nay, Allah never commands what is shameful: do ye say of Allah what ye know not?"

The Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire: "We have indeed found the promises of our Lord to us true: Have you also found Your Lord's promises true?" They shall say, "Yes"; but a crier shall proclaim between them: "The curse of Allah is on the wrong-doers;-

They said: "Hast thou come to us to turn us away from the ways we found our fathers following,- in order that thou and thy brother may have greatness in the land? But not we shall believe in you!"

He said: "Allah forbid that we take other than him with whom we found our property: indeed (if we did so), we should be acting wrongfully.

They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them."

They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."

When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). "What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire?

Nay! they say: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps."

Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."

But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house:

乐园的居民将大声地对火狱的居民说：“我们已发现我们的主所应许我们的是真实的了。你们是否也发现你们的主所应许你们的是真实的吗？”他们说：“是的。”于是，一个喊叫者要在他们中间喊叫说：“真主的弃绝归于不义者。

我没有发现他们大半是履行约言的，我却发现他们大半是犯罪的人。

他们说：“你到我们这里来，想使我们抛奔我们的祖先的宗教，而让你们俩称尊于国中吗？我们绝不会归信你们的。”

他说：“愿真主保佑我们，我们只把发现其粮袋里有酒杯者当做奴仆；否则，我们必定是不义的人。”

他们说：“我们发现我们的祖先是崇拜他们的。”

他们说：“不然，我们曾发现我们的祖先是那样做的。”

如果有人对他们说：“你们应当遵守真主所降示的（经典）。”他们就说：“不然，我们遵守我们祖先的遗教。”即使恶魔叫他们去受烈火的刑罚，（他们仍要遵循）吗？

不然，他们说：“我们确已发现我们的祖先是信奉一种宗教的，我们确是遵循他们的遗迹而得正道的。”

在你之前，每逢我这样派遣警告者到一个城市去，那里的豪华者总是说：“我们确已发现我们的祖先是信奉一种宗教的，我们确是遵循他们的遗迹的。”

我在城里只发现一家归顺者。
