O ye People of the Book! believe in what We have (now) revealed, confirming what was (already) with you, before We change the face and fame of some (of you) beyond all recognition, and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers, for the decision of Allah Must be carried out.

The Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire: "We have indeed found the promises of our Lord to us true: Have you also found Your Lord's promises true?" They shall say, "Yes"; but a crier shall proclaim between them: "The curse of Allah is on the wrong-doers;-

Between them shall be a veil, and on the heights will be men who would know every one by his marks: they will call out to the Companions of the Garden, "peace on you": they will not have entered, but they will have an assurance (thereof).

The Companions of the Fire will call to the Companions of the Garden: "Pour down to us water or anything that Allah doth provide for your sustenance." They will say: "Both these things hath Allah forbidden to those who rejected Him."

Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign?

Set forth to them, by way of a parable, the (story of) the Companions of the City. Behold!, there came messengers to it.

Verily the Companions of the Garden shall that Day have joy in all that they do;

Verily We have tried them as We tried the People of the Garden, when they resolved to gather the fruits of the (garden) in the morning.

And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind.

Except the Companions of the Right Hand.

曾受天经的人啊！我将使许多面目改变，而转向后方，或弃绝他们如弃绝犯安息日的人那样，在这件事实现之前，你们应当信我所降示的新经，这部新经能证实你们所有的古经。真主的判决是要被执行的。

乐园的居民将大声地对火狱的居民说：“我们已发现我们的主所应许我们的是真实的了。你们是否也发现你们的主所应许你们的是真实的吗？”他们说：“是的。”于是，一个喊叫者要在他们中间喊叫说：“真主的弃绝归于不义者。

他们中间将有一个屏障。在那个（屏障）的高处将有许多男人，他们借双方的仪表而认识双方的人，他们喊叫乐园的居民说：“祝你们平安！”他们羡慕乐园，但不得进去。

火狱的居民将要喊叫乐园的居民说：“求你们把水或真主所供给你们的食品，倒下一点来给我们吧！”他们回答说：“真主确已禁止我们把这两样东西赠送不信道者。”

难道你以为岩洞和碑文的主人是我的迹象中的一件奇事吗？

你当以城市的居民为他们设一个譬喻。当时，使者们来临那些居民。

乐园的居民在那日确是从事于愉乐的。

我确已考验他们，犹如考验园圃的主人们一样。当时，他们曾盟誓，他们必定在早晨收获园圃中的果实，

我只将管理火狱的成天神，我只以他们的数目，考验不信道的人们，以便曾受天经的人们认清，而信道的人们更加笃信；以免曾受天经的人们和信道的人们怀疑；以便心中有病者和不信道者说：“真主设这个譬喻做什么？”真主这样使他所意欲的人误入迷途，使他所意欲的人遵循正路。只有你的主，能知道他的军队，这只是人类的教训。

惟幸福的人们除外。
