They said,
'Pray
for us
(to) your Lord
to make clear
to us
what
it (is).
Indeed,
[the] cows
look alike
to us.
And indeed we,
if
wills Allah,
(will) surely be [those who are] guided.'
Those who,
when
strikes them
a misfortune,
they say,
'Indeed, we belong to Allah
and indeed we
towards Him
will return.'
They said,
`O Musa!
Indeed,
in it
(are) people
(of) tyrannical strength
and indeed, we
will never
enter it
until
they leave
from it,
and if
they leave
[from] it
then certainly we (will)
enter (it).`
And to
those who
are Jews
We forbade
every
(animal) with claws,
and of
the cows
and the sheep
We forbade
to them
their fat
except
what
carried
their backs
or
the entrails
or
what
(is) joined
with the bone.
That
(is) their reccompense
for their rebellion.
And indeed, We
[surely] are truthful.
Said
the cheifs
(of) those who
disbelieved
from
his people,
`Indeed, we
surely, see you
in
foolishness
and indeed, we
[we] think you
(are) of
the liars.`
And said
the chiefs
of
(the) people
(of) Firaun,
`Will you leave
Musa
and his people
so that they cause corruption
in
the earth
and forsake you
and your god?`
He said,
`We will kill
their sons
and we will let lie
their women,
and indeed, we
over them
(are) subjugator.`
They said,
`O Shuaib!
Not
we understand
much
of what
you say,
and indeed, we
surely [we] see you
among us
weak.
And if not
for your family
surely we would have stoned you,
and you are not
against us
mighty.`
So (do) not
be
in
doubt
as to what
worship
these (polytheists).
Not
they worship
except
as what
worshipped
their forefathers
before.
And indeed, We
will surely pay them in full
their share
without
being diminshed.
They said,
`O our father!
Why
(do) you
not
trust us
with
Yusuf,
while indeed, we
(are) for him
surely well-wishers?
Send him
with us
tomorrow,
(to) enjoy
and play.
And indeed, we
will surely be his guardians.`
They said,
`We will try to get permission
for him
from his father,
and indeed we,
surely will do.`
So when
they returned
to
their father,
they said,
`O our father!
Has been denied
to us
the measure,
so send
with us
our brother
(that) we will get measure.
And indeed, we
for him
(will) surely (be) guardians.`
And ask
the town
where
we were
[in it],
and the caravan
which
we returned
[in it].
And indeed, we
surely (are) truthful.`
Has not
come to you
(the) news
(of) those who
(were) before you,
the people
of Nuh,
and Aad
and Thamud
and those who
(were) after them?
None
knows them
except
Allah.
Came to them
their Messengers
with clear proofs
but they returned
their hands
in
their mouths
and they said,
`Indeed we
[we] disbelieve
in what
you have been sent
with [it],
and indeed, we
(are) surely in
doubt
about what
you invite us
to it
suspicious.`
Indeed, We
We
have sent down
the Reminder,
and indeed, We
of it
(are) surely Guardians.
And indeed, We,
surely [We]
We give life
and We cause death,
and We
are the Inheritors.
And we have come to you
with the truth,
and indeed, we
surely (are) truthful.
And indeed, We
(will) surely make
what
(is) on it
soil
barren.
Then whoever
does
[of]
[the] righteous deeds
while he
(is) a believer
then not
(will be) rejected
[of] his effort.
And indeed, We
of it
(are) Recorders.
And We send down
from
the sky
water,
in (due) measure
then We cause it to settle
in
the earth.
And indeed, We,
on
taking it away,
surely (are) Abie.
And indeed We
on
that
We show you
what
We have promised them
surely able.
And indeed, we
(are) surely a multitude
forwarned.`
They said,
`Swear to each other
by Allah
surely, we will attack him by night,
and his family.
Then
we will surely say
to his heir,
`Not
we witnessed
(the) destruction
(of) his family,
and indeed, we
(are) surely truthful.``
Say,
'Who
provides (for) you
from
the heavens
and the earth?'
Say,
Allah
And indeed, we
or
you
(are) surely upon
guidance
or
in
error
clear.'
And indeed, we
surely, [we]
stand in rows.
And indeed, we
surely, [we]
glorify (Allah).'
Then if
they turn away,
then not
We have sent you
over them
(as) a guardian.
Not
(is) on you
except
the conveyance.
And indeed,
when
We cause to taste
[the] man
from Us
Mercy,
he rejoices
in it.
But if
befalls them
evil,
for what
have sent forth
their hands
then indeed,
[the] man
(is) ungrateful.
And indeed, we
to
our Lord,
will surely return.'
Nay,
they say,
'Indeed, we
[we] found
our forefathers
upon
a religion
and indeed, we
on
their footsteps
(are) guided.'
And thus
not
we sent
before you
in
a town
any
warner
except
said
(the) wealthy ones of it,
'Indeed, we
[we] found
our forefathers
on
a religion,
and indeed, we
[on]
their footsteps
(are) following.'
They said: "Beseech on our behalf Thy Lord to make plain to us what she is: To us are all heifers alike: We wish indeed for guidance, if Allah wills."
Who say, when afflicted with calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return":-
They said: "O Moses! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter."
For those who followed the Jewish Law, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof, and We forbade them that fat of the ox and the sheep, except what adheres to their backs or their entrails, or is mixed up with a bone: this in recompense for their wilful disobedience: for We are true (in Our ordinances).
The leaders of the Unbelievers among his people said: "Ah! we see thou art an imbecile!" and "We think thou art a liar!"
Said the chiefs of Pharaoh's people: "Wilt thou leave Moses and his people, to spread mischief in the land, and to abandon thee and thy gods?" He said: "Their male children will we slay; (only) their females will we save alive; and we have over them (power) irresistible."
They said: "O Shu'aib! much of what thou sayest we do not understand! In fact among us we see that thou hast no strength! Were it not for thy family, we should certainly have stoned thee! for thou hast among us no great position!"
Be not then in doubt as to what these men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them): but verily We shall pay them back (in full) their portion without (the least) abatement.
They said: "O our father! why dost thou not trust us with Joseph,- seeing we are indeed his sincere well-wishers?
"Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and we shall take every care of him."
They said: "We shall certainly seek to get our wish about him from his father: Indeed we shall do it."
Now when they returned to their father, they said: "O our father! No more measure of grain shall we get (unless we take our brother): So send our brother with us, that we may get our measure; and we will indeed take every care of him."
"'Ask at the town where we have been and the caravan in which we returned, and (you will find) we are indeed telling the truth.'"
Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us."
We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption).
And verily, it is We Who give life, and Who give death: it is We Who remain inheritors (after all else passes away).
"We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth.
Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage).
Whoever works any act of righteousness and has faith,- His endeavour will not be rejected: We shall record it in his favour.
And We send down water from the sky according to (due) measure, and We cause it to soak in the soil; and We certainly are able to drain it off (with ease).
And We are certainly able to show thee (in fulfilment) that against which they are warned.
"But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."
They said: "Swear a mutual oath by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his people, and that we shall then say to his heir (when he seeks vengeance): 'We were not present at the slaughter of his people, and we are positively telling the truth.'"
Say: "Who gives you sustenance, from the heavens and the earth?" Say: "It is Allah; and certain it is that either we or ye are on right guidance or in manifest error!"
"And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service);
"And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!"
If then they run away, We have not sent thee as a guard over them. Thy duty is but to convey (the Message). And truly, when We give man a taste of a Mercy from Ourselves, he doth exult thereat, but when some ill happens to him, on account of the deeds which his hands have sent forth, truly then is man ungrateful!
"And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!"
Nay! they say: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps."
Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."
他们说：“请你替我们请求你的主为我们说明那头牛的情状，因为在我们看来，牛都是相似的，如果真主意欲，我们必获指导。”
他们遭难的时候，说：“我们确是真主所有的，我们必定只归依他。”
他们说：“穆萨呀！圣地中，的确有一个强大的种族，我们绝不进去，直到他们出来。如果他们出来，我们必定进去。”
我只禁戒犹太教徒吃－切有爪的禽兽，又禁戒他们吃牛羊的脂油，惟牛羊脊上或肠上或骨间的脂油除外。这是我因为他们的不义而加于他们的惩罚，我确是诚实的。
他的宗族中不信道的贵族们说：“我们的确认为你是愚蠢的，我们确信你是说谎者。”
法老的百姓中的众领袖说：“难道你要任随穆萨和他的宗族在地方上作恶，并抛弃你和你的众神灵吗？”他说：“我们要屠杀他们的儿子，保全他们的妇女，我们确是统治他们的。
他们说：“舒阿卜啊！你所说的话有很多是我们所不理解的。我们的确认为你是我们中的一个弱者，假若不为你的家族，我们誓必辱骂你，你对于我们并非尊贵的。”
你对这等人所崇拜的（偶像），不要怀疑，他们只像他们的祖先那样崇拜，我必定要把他们的份儿完全无缺地赏赐他们。
他们说：“我们的父亲啊！你对于优素福怎么不信任我们呢？我们对于他确是怀好意的。
明天，请你让他和我们一同去娱乐游戏，我们一定保护他。”
他们说：“我们要恳求他父亲允许我们带他来见你，我们必定这样做。”
他们回去见了他们的父亲，说：“我们的父亲啊！人家不准我们再籴粮了，请你派我们的弟弟和我们一同去，我们就能籴粮；我们一定把他保护好。”
请你问一问我们曾居住的那座市镇和与我们同行的队商吧，我们确是诚实的。”
你们以前的民族--努哈的宗族、阿德人、赛莫德人和他们以后的人，只有真主能知道他们--难道这等人的消息没有来临你们吗？他们族中的使者昭示他们许多明证，但他们把自己的手指插入口内，说：“我们必定不信你们所奉的使命，我们对于你们所宣传的事情，确是在使人不安的疑惑之中。”
我确已降示教诲，我确是教诲的保护者。
我确是能使万物生，能使万物死的；我确是万物的继承者。
我们把真理带来给你了，我们确是诚实的。
我必毁灭大地上的一切事物，而使大地变为荒凉的。
谁信道而且行善，谁的劳绩绝不遭否认，我确是记录他的善功的。
我从云中降下定量的雨水，然后，我使它停留在地下--我对于使它干涸，是全能的
我的确能使你看见我所警告他们的刑罚。
我们确是谨慎的团体。”
他们说：“你们指真主互相盟誓吧！”他们说：“我们必在夜间谋害他，和他的信徒。然后，我们必对他的主说：'他的信徒遇害的时候，我们没有在场，我们确是诚实的人。”
你说：“谁从天上和地下供给你们？”你说：“真主。我们或你们，是在正道上的、或是在显著的迷误中的。”
我们必定是排班的，
我们必定是赞颂真主的。”
如果他们退避，那末，我没有派你做他们的监护者，你只负通知的责任。我使人类尝试从我发出的恩惠的时候，他们因恩惠而快乐；他们因为曾经犯罪而遭难的时候，人类确是孤恩的。
我们必定归于我们的主。”
不然，他们说：“我们确已发现我们的祖先是信奉一种宗教的，我们确是遵循他们的遗迹而得正道的。”
在你之前，每逢我这样派遣警告者到一个城市去，那里的豪华者总是说：“我们确已发现我们的祖先是信奉一种宗教的，我们确是遵循他们的遗迹的。”
