Said the chiefs of Pharaoh's people: "Wilt thou leave Moses and his people, to spread mischief in the land, and to abandon thee and thy gods?" He said: "Their male children will we slay; (only) their females will we save alive; and we have over them (power) irresistible."

Truly Pharaoh elated himself in the land and broke up its people into sections, depressing a small group among them: their sons he slew, but he kept alive their females: for he was indeed a maker of mischief.

Now, when he came to them in Truth, from Us, they said, "Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females," but the plots of Unbelievers (end) in nothing but errors (and delusions)!...

法老的百姓中的众领袖说：“难道你要任随穆萨和他的宗族在地方上作恶，并抛弃你和你的众神灵吗？”他说：“我们要屠杀他们的儿子，保全他们的妇女，我们确是统治他们的。

法老确已在国中傲慢，他把国民分成许多宗派，而欺负其中的一派人；屠杀他们的男孩，保全他们的女孩。他确是伤风败俗的。

他把从我这里发出的真理昭示他们的时候，他们说：“你们当杀戮与他一同信道者的儿子，只留下他们的女儿。”不信道者的计策，只在迷误中。
