Allah did confer a great favour on the believers when He sent among them a messenger from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the Signs of Allah, sanctifying them, and instructing them in Scripture and Wisdom, while, before that, they had been in manifest error.

Lo! Abraham said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error."

The leaders of his people said: "Ah! we see thee evidently wandering (in mind)."

They said: "Truly Joseph and his brother are loved more by our father than we: But we are a goodly body! really our father is obviously wandering (in his mind)!

Ladies said in the City: "The wife of the (great) 'Aziz is seeking to seduce her slave from his (true) self: Truly hath he inspired her with violent love: we see she is evidently going astray."

For Him (alone) is prayer in Truth: any others that they call upon besides Him hear them no more than if they were to stretch forth their hands for water to reach their mouths but it reaches them not: for the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile) wandering (in the mind).

Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something crooked: they are astray by a long distance.

How plainly will they see and hear, the Day that they will appear before Us! but the unjust today are in error manifest!

He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers."

"'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest,

Verily He Who ordained the Qur'an for thee, will bring thee back to the Place of Return. Say: "My Lord knows best who it is that brings true guidance, and who is in manifest error."

Such is the Creation of Allah: now show Me what is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are in manifest error.

Say: "Who gives you sustenance, from the heavens and the earth?" Say: "It is Allah; and certain it is that either we or ye are on right guidance or in manifest error!"

"I would indeed, if I were to do so, be in manifest Error.

And when they are told, "Spend ye of (the bounties) with which Allah has provided you," the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Shall we then feed those whom, if Allah had so willed, He would have fed, (Himself)?- Ye are in nothing but manifest error."

Is one whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, so that he has received Enlightenment from Allah, (no better than one hard-hearted)? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against celebrating the praises of Allah! they are manifestly wandering (in error)!

Now, when he came to them in Truth, from Us, they said, "Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females," but the plots of Unbelievers (end) in nothing but errors (and delusions)!...

They will say: "Did there not come to you your messengers with Clear Signs?" They will say, "Yes". They will reply, "Then pray (as ye like)! But the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile wandering) in (mazes of) error!"

Only those wish to hasten it who believe not in it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know that it is the Truth. Behold, verily those that dispute concerning the Hour are far astray.

Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error?

"If any does not hearken to the one who invites (us) to Allah, he cannot frustrate (Allah's Plan) on earth, and no protectors can he have besides Allah: such men (wander) in manifest error."

His Companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was (himself) far astray."

For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad!

Truly those in sin are the ones straying in mind, and mad.

It is He Who has sent amongst the Unlettered a messenger from among themselves, to rehearse to them His Signs, to sanctify them, and to instruct them in Scripture and Wisdom,- although they had been, before, in manifest error;-

They will say: "Yes indeed; a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said, 'Allah never sent down any (Message): ye are nothing but an egregious delusion!'"

Say: "He is (Allah) Most Gracious: We have believed in Him, and on Him have we put our trust: So, soon will ye know which (of us) it is that is in manifest error."

真主确已施恩于信士们，因为他曾在他们中派遣了一个同族的使者，对他们宣读他的迹象，并且熏陶他们，教授他们天经和智慧，以前，他们确是在明显的迷误中的。

当时，易卜拉欣对他的父亲阿宰尔说：“你把偶像当作主宰吗？据我看来，你和你的宗族，的确在明显的迷误中。”

他的宗族中的众领袖说：“我们的确认为你是在明显的迷误中的。”

当时，他们说：“优素福和他弟弟，在我们的父亲看来，是比我们还可爱的，而我们是一个（强壮的）团体，我们的父亲确是在明显的迷误之中。”

都城里的一些妇女说：“权贵的妻子勾引她的仆人，他迷惑了她，我们认为她确是在明显的迷误之中的。”

真实的祈祷只归于他，他们舍他而祈祷的（偶像），一点也不能答应他们的祈求。但他们好像一个人，把两只手掌伸向水中，以便水达到他的口，其实，水绝不会达到他的口的。不信道者的祈祷，只在迷误中。

他们宁要今世，而不要后世，并阻碍真主的大道，而且想在其中寻求偏邪道，这等人是在深深的迷误之中的。

他们来见我的那日，他们的耳真聪，他们的眼真明，但不义者，今天确在明显的迷误之中。

他说：“你们和你们的祖先，确已陷于明显的迷误之中。”

“指真主发誓，以前，我们确实在明显的迷误中。

把《古兰经》降示给你，必使你复返故乡。你说：“我的主知道谁是昭示正道的，谁是在明显的迷误中的。”

这是真主所创造的，你们指示我吧。你们舍真主而崇拜的（偶像）究竟创造了什么呢？不然，不义的人是在明显的迷误中的。

你说：“谁从天上和地下供给你们？”你说：“真主。我们或你们，是在正道上的、或是在显著的迷误中的。”

如果那样，我确是在明显的迷误中。

如果有声音对他们说：“你们应当分舍真主所赐予你们的。”那末，不信道者将对信道者说：“真主欲供养谁就供养谁，我们何必供养他呢？你们只是在明显的迷误中。”

真主为伊斯兰而开拓其胸襟，故能接受主的光明者，难道跟胸襟狭隘的人一样吗？悲哉为记忆真主而心硬者，这等人是在明显的迷误中的。

他把从我这里发出的真理昭示他们的时候，他们说：“你们当杀戮与他一同信道者的儿子，只留下他们的女儿。”不信道者的计策，只在迷误中。

他们说：“难道你们族中的使者，没有昭示你们若干明证吗？”他们说：“不然！”天神们说：“你们祈祷吧！但不信道者的祈祷只在迷误中。”

不信复活时的人们要求它早日实现；而确信它的人们却怕它早日实现，并且知道它是真实的。真的，为复活时而争辩的人们，的确在不近情理的迷误之中。

难道你能使聋子听闻，或能引导瞎子和在明显的迷误中的人吗？

不应答真主号召者的人，在大地上绝不能逃避天谴，除真主外，他们绝无保护者，这等人是在明显的迷误中的。”

他的伙伴将说：“我的主啊！我没有使他放荡，但他自陷于不近情理的迷误中。”

故他们说：“我们同族的一个凡人，我们能顺从他吗？如果那样，我们必定陷于迷误和疯狂之中。

犯罪者的确在迷误和烈火中。

他在文盲中派遣一个同族的使者，去对他们宣读他的迹象，并培养他们，教授他们天经和智慧，尽管以前他们确是在明显的迷误中；

他们说：“不然！警告者确已降临我们了，但我们否认他们，我们说：‘真主没有降示甚么，你们只在重大的迷误中。'”

你说：“他是至仁主，我们已信仰他，我们只信赖他。你们将知道谁在明显的迷误中。”
