And remember Abraham and Isma'il raised the foundations of the House (With this prayer): "Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All-Hearing, the All-knowing.

"Our Lord! make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

"Our Lord! send amongst them a Messenger of their own, who shall rehearse Thy Signs to them and instruct them in scripture and wisdom, and sanctify them: For Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers,- yea, with far more Heart and soul. There are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Thy bounties) in this world!" but they will have no portion in the Hereafter.

And there are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!"

When they advanced to meet Goliath and his forces, they prayed: "Our Lord! Pour out constancy on us and make our steps firm: Help us against those that reject faith."

The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

"Our Lord!" (they say), "Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure.

"Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind Together against a day about which there is no doubt; for Allah never fails in His promise."

(Namely), those who say: "Our Lord! we have indeed believed: forgive us, then, our sins, and save us from the agony of the Fire;"-

"Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness."

All that they said was: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith."

Men who celebrate the praises of Allah, standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heavens and the earth, (With the thought): "Our Lord! not for naught Hast Thou created (all) this! Glory to Thee! Give us salvation from the penalty of the Fire.

"Our Lord! any whom Thou dost admit to the Fire, Truly Thou coverest with shame, and never will wrong-doers Find any helpers!

"Our Lord! we have heard the call of one calling (Us) to Faith, 'Believe ye in the Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and take to Thyself our souls in the company of the righteous.

"Our Lord! Grant us what Thou didst promise unto us through Thine messengers, and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment: For Thou never breakest Thy promise."

And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!"

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were told to hold back their hands (from fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as - or even more than - they should have feared Allah: They said: "Our Lord! Why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite to our (natural) term, near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: Never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least!

And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.

Said Jesus the son of Mary: "O Allah our Lord! Send us from heaven a table set (with viands), that there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a solemn festival and a sign from thee; and provide for our sustenance, for thou art the best Sustainer (of our needs)."

One day will He gather them all together, (and say): "O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men." Their friends amongst men will say: "Our Lord! we made profit from each other: but (alas!) we reached our term - which thou didst appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling-place: you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth." for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge.

They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost."

He will say: "Enter ye in the company of the peoples who passed away before you - men and jinns, - into the Fire." Every time a new people enters, it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire. Saith the last about the first: "Our Lord! it is these that misled us: so give them a double penalty in the Fire." He will say: "Doubled for all" : but this ye do not understand.

When their eyes shall be turned towards the Companions of the Fire, they will say: "Our Lord! send us not to the company of the wrong-doers."

"We should indeed invent a lie against Allah, if we returned to your ways after Allah hath rescued us therefrom; nor could we by any manner of means return thereto unless it be as in the will and plan of Allah, Our Lord. Our Lord can reach out to the utmost recesses of things by His knowledge. In the Allah is our trust. our Lord! decide Thou between us and our people in truth, for Thou art the best to decide."

"But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)!

我们的主啊！求你使我们变成你的两个顺民，并从我们的後裔中造成归顺你的民族，求你昭示我们朝觐的仪式，求你恕宥我们，你确是至宥的，确是至慈的。

我们的主啊！求你在他们中间派遣一个同族的使者，对他们宣读你的启示，教授他们天经和智慧，并且薰陶他们。你确是万能的，确是至睿的。”

你们在举行朝觐的典礼之後，当记念真主，犹如记念你们的祖先一样，或记念得更多些。有人说：“我们的主啊！求你在今世赏赐我们。”他在後世，绝无福分。

有人说：“我们的主啊！求你在今世赏赐我们美好的（生活），在後世也赏赐我们美好的（生活），求你保护我们，免受火狱的刑罚。”

当他们出去与查鲁特和他的军队交战的时候，他们祈祷说：“我们的主啊！求你把坚忍注入我们的心中，求你坚定我们的步伐，求你援助我们以对抗不信道的民众。”

使者确信主所降示他的经典，信士们也确信那部经典，他们人人都确信真主和他的众天神，一切经典和众使者。（他们说）：”我们对於他的任何使者，都不加以歧视。”他们说：“我们听从了，我们恳求你赦宥；我们的主啊！你是最後的归宿。”

真主只依各人的能力而加以责成。各人要享受自己所行善功的奖赏，要遭遇自己所作罪恶的惩罚。”我们的主啊！求你不要惩罚我们，如果我们遗忘或错误。求你不要使我们荷负重担，犹如你使古人荷负它一样。我们的主啊！求你不要使我们担负我们所不能胜任的。求你恕饶我们，求你赦宥我们，求你怜悯我们。你是我们的保佑者，求你援助我们，以对抗不信道的民众。”

我们的主啊！在你引导我们之后，求你不要使我们的心背离正道，求你把你那里发出的恩惠，赏赐我们，你确是博施的。

我们的主啊！在无疑之日，你必定集合世人。真主确是不爽约的。”

他们说：“我们的主啊！我们确已信道了，求你赦宥我们的罪过，求你使我们得免于火狱的刑罚。”

我们的主啊！我们已确信你所降示的经典，我们已顺从使者，求你使我们加入作证者的行列。”

他们没有别的话，只说：“我们的主啊！求你赦宥我们的罪恶，和我们的过失，求你坚定我们的步伐，求你援助我们以对抗不信道的民众。”

他们站着，坐着，躺着记念真主，并思维天地的创造，（他们说）：”我们的主啊！你没有徒然地创造这个世界。我们赞颂你超绝万物，求你保护我们，免受火狱的刑罚。

我们的主啊！你使谁入火狱，你确已凌辱谁了。不义的人，绝没有援助者。

我们的主啊！我们确已听见了一个召唤的人，召人于正信，（他说）：'你们当确信你们的主。'我们就确信了。我们的主啊！求你赦宥我们的罪恶，求你消除我们的过失，求你使我们与义人们死在一处。

我们的主啊！你曾借众使者的口而应许我们的恩惠，求你把它赏赐我们，求你在复活日不要凌辱我们。你确是不爽约的。”

你们怎么不为（保护）主道和（解救）老弱妇孺而抗战呢？他们常说：“我们的主啊！求你从这个虐民所居的城市里把我们救出去。求你从你那里为我们委任一个保护者，求你从你们那里为我们委任一个援助者。”

难道你没有看见吗？有人曾对他们说：“你们当制止自己的武力，当谨守拜功，当完纳天课。”当真主以抗战为他们的定制的时候，他们中有一部分人畏惧敌人，犹如畏惧真主，乃至更加畏惧。他们说：“我们的主啊！你为什么以抗战为我们的定制呢？你为什么不让我们延迟到一个临近的日期呢？”你说：“今世的享受，是些微的；后世的报酬，对于敬畏者，是更好的。你们不受一丝毫的亏枉。”

当他们听见诵读降示使者的经典的时候，你看他们为自己所认识的真理而眼泪汪汪，他们说：“我们的主啊!我们已信道了，求你把我们同作证真理的人记录在一处。

麦尔彦之子尔撒说：“真主啊!我们的主啊!求你从天上降筵席给我们，以便我们先辈和后辈都以降筵之日为节日，并以筵席为你所降示的迹象。求你以给养赏赐我们，你是最善于供给的。”

我把他们完全集合之日，（或者将说）：”精灵的群众啊！你们确已诱惑许多人了。”这些人中的党羽将说：“我们的主啊！我们已互相利用，而达到你所为我们预定的期限了！”他说：“火狱是你们的归宿，你们将永居其中，除非真主意欲的时候。”你的主确是至睿的，确是全知的。

他俩说：“我们的主啊！我们已自欺了，如果你不赦宥我们，不慈悯我们，我们必定变成亏折者。”

真主将要说：“你们同精灵和人类中以前逝去的各民族一起进入火狱吧。”每当一个民族进火狱去，总要咒骂她的姐妹民族，直到他们统统到齐了。他们中后进的论及先进的说：“我们的主啊！这等人曾使我们迷误，求你使他们受加倍的火刑。”主说：“-个人都受加倍的火刑，但你们不知道。”

当他们的眼光转向火狱的居民的时候，他们说：“我们的主啊！来你不要使我们与不义的民众同住。”

真主使我们脱离你们的宗教后，如果我们再去信它，那末，我们确已假借真主的名义而造谣了。除非真主--我们的主--意欲，我们不会再信你们的宗教。我们的主的知觉是包罗万物的，我们只信托真主。我们的主啊！求你在我们和我们的宗族之间依真理而判决吧，你是至善的判决者。”
