So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers,- yea, with far more Heart and soul. There are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Thy bounties) in this world!" but they will have no portion in the Hereafter.

Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were told to hold back their hands (from fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as - or even more than - they should have feared Allah: They said: "Our Lord! Why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite to our (natural) term, near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: Never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least!

Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.

As in the case of those before you: they were mightier than you in power, and more flourishing in wealth and children. They had their enjoyment of their portion: and ye have of yours, as did those before you; and ye indulge in idle talk as they did. They!- their work are fruitless in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will lose (all spiritual good).

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the End of those before them,- though they were superior to them in strength? Nor is Allah to be frustrated by anything whatever in the heavens or on earth: for He is All-Knowing. All-Powerful.

In front of the Fire will they be brought, morning and evening: And (the sentence will be) on the Day that Judgment will be established: "Cast ye the People of Pharaoh into the severest Penalty!"

So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old.

你们在举行朝觐的典礼之後，当记念真主，犹如记念你们的祖先一样，或记念得更多些。有人说：“我们的主啊！求你在今世赏赐我们。”他在後世，绝无福分。

难道你没有看见吗？有人曾对他们说：“你们当制止自己的武力，当谨守拜功，当完纳天课。”当真主以抗战为他们的定制的时候，他们中有一部分人畏惧敌人，犹如畏惧真主，乃至更加畏惧。他们说：“我们的主啊！你为什么以抗战为我们的定制呢？你为什么不让我们延迟到一个临近的日期呢？”你说：“今世的享受，是些微的；后世的报酬，对于敬畏者，是更好的。你们不受一丝毫的亏枉。”

你必定发现，对于信道者仇恨最深的是犹太教徒和以物配主的人；你必定发现，对于信道者最亲近的是自称基督教徒的人；因为他们当中有许多牧师和僧侣，还因为他们不自大。

（伪信的人们啊！你们）像你们以前逝去的民族一样，不过他们的势力比你们雄厚，财产和子嗣比你们富庶，他们曾享受他们的份儿，你们也可以享受你们的份儿，犹如在你们之前逝去的民族曾享受他们的份儿一样；你们也像他们那样去闲谈吧！这等人的善功，在今世和后世都是无效的。这等人是亏折的。

难道他们没有在大地上旅行而观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们努力更大，前人于地方的恳植和建设，胜过他们。他们族中的使者来临他们，真主不致亏枉他们，但他们亏枉了自己，

难道他们没有在大地上旅行，以观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们势力更大。真主是天地间任何物不能使他无奈的，他确是全知的，确是全能的。

难道他们没有在大地上旅行以观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们势力更大、成绩更多；但真主因他们的罪过而惩治了他们，他们对真主没有任何保卫者。

他们朝夕受火刑。复活时来临之日，或者将说：“你们让法老的宗族进去受最严厉的刑罚吧！”

我曾毁灭了比你的宗族更强横者，先民的实例民逝去了。
