(Their plight will be) no better than that of the people of Pharaoh, and their predecessors: They denied our Signs, and Allah called them to account for their sins. For Allah is strict in punishment.

See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them).

To those who inherit the earth in succession to its (previous) possessors, is it not a guiding, (lesson) that, if We so willed, We could punish them (too) for their sins, and seal up their hearts so that they could not hear?

"(Deeds) after the manner of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them: They rejected the Signs of Allah, and Allah punished them for their crimes: for Allah is Strong, and Strict in punishment:

(Deeds) after the manner of the people of Pharaoh and those before them": They treated as false the Signs of their Lord: so We destroyed them for their crimes, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh: for they were all oppressors and wrong-doers.

Others (there are who) have acknowledged their wrong-doings: they have mixed an act that was good with another that was evil. Perhaps Allah will turn unto them (in Mercy): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were even superior to them in strength, and in the traces (they have left) in the land: but Allah did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to defend them against Allah.

（他们的情状），犹如法老的百姓和他们以前的各民族的情状一样；他们否认真主的迹象，故真主因他们的罪恶而惩治他们。真主的刑罚是严厉的。

难道他们不知道吗？在他们之前，我曾毁灭了许多世代，并且把没有赏赐你们的地位赏赐了他们，给他们以充足的雨水，使诸河流行在他们的下面。嗣后，我因他们的罪过而毁灭他们。在他们（灭亡）之后，我创造了别的世代。

继先民之后而为大地的主人公的人们，假若我意欲，我必因他们的罪恶而惩治他们；并且封闭他们的心，故他们不听劝谏。难道他们不明白这个道理吗？

（他们的常态）犹如法老的百姓和以前的民族的常态一样，他们不信真主的迹象，故真主因他们的罪行而惩治他们。真主确是全能的，他的刑罚确是严厉的。

（他们的常态）犹如法老的百姓和以前的民族的常态一样，他们否认自己的主的迹象。故我因他们的罪恶而毁灭他们，把法老的百姓淹死在海里，他们原是不义者。

还有一些人已承认自己的罪过。他们曾使善行和恶行互相混合，真主或许准他们悔过。真主确是至恕的，确是至慈的。

难道他们没有在大地上旅行以观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们势力更大、成绩更多；但真主因他们的罪过而惩治了他们，他们对真主没有任何保卫者。
