For Him (alone) is prayer in Truth: any others that they call upon besides Him hear them no more than if they were to stretch forth their hands for water to reach their mouths but it reaches them not: for the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile) wandering (in the mind).

So his fruits (and enjoyment) were encompassed (with ruin), and he remained twisting and turning his hands over what he had spent on his property, which had (now) tumbled to pieces to its very foundations, and he could only say, "Woe is me! Would I had never ascribed partners to my Lord and Cherisher!"

真实的祈祷只归于他，他们舍他而祈祷的（偶像），一点也不能答应他们的祈求。但他们好像一个人，把两只手掌伸向水中，以便水达到他的口，其实，水绝不会达到他的口的。不信道者的祈祷，只在迷误中。

他的财产，全遭毁灭。园里的葡萄架倒塌在地上，他为痛惜建设园圃的费用而反覆翻转他的两掌，他说：“但愿我没有把任何物配我的主。”
