They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that if a (special) sign came to them, by it they would believe. Say: "Certainly (all) signs are in the power of Allah: but what will make you (Muslims) realise that (even) if (special) signs came, they will not believe."?

Behold! Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;-

He said, "Nay, throw ye first!" Then behold their ropes and their rods-so it seemed to him on account of their magic - began to be in lively motion!

Only those wish to hasten it who believe not in it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know that it is the Truth. Behold, verily those that dispute concerning the Hour are far astray.

他们指真主而发出最严重的盟誓，如果有一种迹象降临他们，那末，他们必定确信它。你说：“一切迹象，只在真主那里。”你们怎么知道呢？当迹象降临的时候，他们或许不信它。

当时，真主应许你们两伙人中的一伙，你们要的是没有武装的那一伙，而真主欲以他的言辞证实真理，并根绝不信道的人，

他说：“还是你们先抛吧！”他们的绳子和拐杖，在他看来，好象是因他们的魔术而蜿蜒的。

不信复活时的人们要求它早日实现；而确信它的人们却怕它早日实现，并且知道它是真实的。真的，为复活时而争辩的人们，的确在不近情理的迷误之中。
