If We had ordered them to sacrifice their lives or to leave their homes, very few of them would have done it: But if they had done what they were (actually) told, it would have been best for them, and would have gone farthest to strengthen their (faith);

"Slay ye Joseph or cast him out to some (unknown) land, that so the favour of your father may be given to you alone: (there will be time enough) for you to be righteous after that!"

Now, when he came to them in Truth, from Us, they said, "Slay the sons of those who believe with him, and keep alive their females," but the plots of Unbelievers (end) in nothing but errors (and delusions)!...

假若我命令他们说：“你们自杀或离乡吧！”他们除少数人外，都不遵命。假若他们遵行自己所受的劝戒，这对于他们必定是裨益更多的，使他们的信仰更加坚定的。

（他们说：）”你们把优素福杀掉，或把他抛弃在荒远的地方，你们父亲的慈爱，就会专归于你们了，而你们以后还可以成为正直的人。”

他把从我这里发出的真理昭示他们的时候，他们说：“你们当杀戮与他一同信道者的儿子，只留下他们的女儿。”不信道者的计策，只在迷误中。
