When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah hath revealed:" They say: "Nay! we shall follow the ways of our fathers." What! even though their fathers Were void of wisdom and guidance?

When it is said to them: "Come to what Allah hath revealed; come to the Messenger": They say: "Enough for us are the ways we found our fathers following." what! even though their fathers were void of knowledge and guidance?

Be not then in doubt as to what these men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them): but verily We shall pay them back (in full) their portion without (the least) abatement.

In order that thou mayest admonish a people, whose fathers had received no admonition, and who therefore remain heedless (of the Signs of Allah).

有人劝他们说：“你们应当遵守真主所降示的经典。”他们就说：“不然，我们要遵守我们祖先的遗教。”即使他们的祖先无知无识，不循正道（他们仍要遵守他们的遗教）吗？

有人对他们说：“你们来遵守真主所降示的经典吧。来服从使者吧!”他们就说：“能满足我们的，是我们的祖先的宗教。”即使他们的祖先无知无识，不循正道，（他们仍要遵守）他们的宗教吗﹖

你对这等人所崇拜的（偶像），不要怀疑，他们只像他们的祖先那样崇拜，我必定要把他们的份儿完全无缺地赏赐他们。

以便你警告一族人，他们的祖先未被警告过，所以他们是疏忽大意的。
