Those to whom We have sent the Book study it as it should be studied: They are the ones that believe therein: Those who reject faith therein,- the loss is their own.

Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

The Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to His Will): Nor did the People of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account.

O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.

This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).

Allah said: "I will send it down unto you: But if any of you after that resisteth faith, I will punish him with a penalty such as I have not inflicted on any one among all the peoples."

These were the men to whom We gave the Book, and authority, and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them, Behold! We shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.

Can they be (like) those who accept a Clear (Sign) from their Lord, and whom a witness from Himself doth teach, as did the Book of Moses before it,- a guide and a mercy? They believe therein; but those of the Sects that reject it,- the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. Be not then in doubt thereon: for it is the truth from thy Lord: yet many among men do not believe!

蒙我赏赐经典而切实地加以遵守者，是信那经典的。不信那经典者，是亏折的。

对於宗教，绝无强迫；因为正邪确已分明了。谁不信恶魔而信真主，谁确已把握住坚实的、绝不断折的把柄。真主是全聪的，是全知的。

真主所喜悦的宗教，确是伊斯兰教。曾受天经的人，除在知识降临他们之后，由于互相嫉妒外，对于伊斯兰教也没有异议。谁不信真主的迹象，（真主不久就要惩治谁），因为真主确是清算神速的。

信道的人们啊！你们当确信真主和使者，以及他所降示给使者的经典，和他以前所降示的经典。谁不信真主、天神、经典、使者、末日，谁确已深入迷误了。

今天，准许你们吃一切佳美的食物；曾受天经者的食物，对于你们是合法的；你们的食物，对于他们也是合法的；信道的自由女，和曾受天经的自由女，对于你们都是合法的，如果你们把他们的聘仪交给她们，但你们应当是贞节的，不可是淫荡的，也不可是有情人的。谁否认正信，谁的善功，确已无效了；他在后世，是亏折的人。

真主说：“我必定把筵席降给你们。此后，你们中谁不信道，我要用一种绝不用于惩治全世界任何人的刑罚来惩治谁。”

这等人，我曾把天经.智慧和预言赏赐他们。如果这些人不信这些事物，那末，我就把这些事物委托一个对于它们不会不信的民众。

难道这等人还不如别的人吗？他们依据从他们的主降示的明证，而且他们的主所派遣的见证已继那明证而来临，在那明证之前还有穆萨的经典，那是真主所降赐的指南和慈恩。这等人是坚信那明证的。各党派中谁不信那明证，火狱将是谁的约定的地方。所以你们不要怀疑它，它确是你的主所降示的真理，但人们大半不信。
