His companion said to him, in the course of the argument with him: "Dost thou deny Him Who created thee out of dust, then out of a sperm-drop, then fashioned thee into a man?

On the Day when some faces will be (lit up with) white, and some faces will be (in the gloom of) black: To those whose faces will be black, (will be said): "Did ye reject Faith after accepting it? Taste then the penalty for rejecting Faith."

Are your Unbelievers, (O Quraish), better than they? Or have ye an immunity in the Sacred Books?

Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;

Said one who had knowledge of the Book: "I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of an eye!" Then when (Solomon) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord!- to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! and if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free of all Needs, Supreme in Honour !"

These were the men to whom We gave the Book, and authority, and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them, Behold! We shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.

They say, "Our hearts are the wrappings (which preserve Allah's Word: we need no more)." Nay, Allah's curse is on them for their blasphemy: Little is it they believe.

And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (the towering height) of Mount (Sinai): (Saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you, and hearken (to the Law)": They said:" We hear, and we disobey:" And they had to drink into their hearts (of the taint) of the calf because of their Faithlessness. Say: "Vile indeed are the behests of your Faith if ye have any faith!"

Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "What hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.

(They have incurred divine displeasure): In that they broke their covenant; that they rejected the signs of Allah; that they slew the Messengers in defiance of right; that they said, "Our hearts are the wrappings (which preserve Allah's Word; We need no more)";- Nay, Allah hath set the seal on their hearts for their blasphemy, and little is it they believe;-

When some trouble toucheth man, he crieth unto his Lord, turning to Him in repentance: but when He bestoweth a favour upon him as from Himself, (man) doth forget what he cried and prayed for before, and he doth set up rivals unto Allah, thus misleading others from Allah's Path. Say, "Enjoy thy blasphemy for a little while: verily thou art (one) of the Companions of the Fire!"

Or (another similitude) is that of a rain-laden cloud from the sky: In it are zones of darkness, and thunder and lightning: They press their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunder-clap, the while they are in terror of death. But Allah is ever round the rejecters of Faith!

Among them is (many) a man who says: "Grant me exemption and draw me not into trial." Have they not fallen into trial already? and indeed Hell surrounds the Unbelievers (on all sides).

They ask thee to hasten on the Punishment: but, of a surety, Hell will encompass the Rejecters of Faith!-

Nor would he instruct you to take angels and prophets for Lords and patrons. What! would he bid you to unbelief after ye have bowed your will (To Allah in Islam)?

When they come to thee, they say: "We believe": but in fact they enter with a mind against Faith, and they go out with the same but Allah knoweth fully all that they hide.

It is not for such as join gods with Allah, to visit or maintain the mosques of Allah while they witness against their own souls to infidelity. The works of such bear no fruit: In Fire shall they dwell.

Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,- except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty.

Allah sets forth a Parable: a city enjoying security and quiet, abundantly supplied with sustenance from every place: Yet was it ungrateful for the favours of Allah: so Allah made it taste of hunger and terror (in extremes) (closing in on it) like a garment (from every side), because of the (evil) which (its people) wrought.

But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!

That was because there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs), but they rejected them: So Allah called them to account: for He is Full of Strength, Strict in Punishment.

That was because there came to them messengers with Clear Signs, but they said: "Shall (mere) human beings direct us?" So they rejected (the Message) and turned away. But Allah can do without (them): and Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise.

Allah will not call you to account for what is futile in your oaths, but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths: for expiation, feed ten indigent persons, on a scale of the average for the food of your families; or clothe them; or give a slave his freedom. If that is beyond your means, fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths ye have sworn. But keep to your oaths. Thus doth Allah make clear to you His signs, that ye may be grateful.

The Unbelievers will be addressed: "Greater was the aversion of Allah to you than (is) your aversion to yourselves, seeing that ye were called to the Faith and ye used to refuse."

Say, "The truth is from your Lord": Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it): for the wrong-doers We have prepared a Fire whose (smoke and flames), like the walls and roof of a tent, will hem them in: if they implore relief they will be granted water like melted brass, that will scald their faces, how dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to recline on!

O ye who believe! If ye listen to a faction among the People of the Book, they would (indeed) render you apostates after ye have believed!

Some people before you did ask such questions, and on that account lost their faith.

"O ye assembly of Jinns and men! came there not unto you messengers from amongst you, setting forth unto you My signs, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say: "We bear witness against ourselves." It was the life of this world that deceived them. So against themselves will they bear witness that they rejected Faith.

Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His Signs? For such, their portion appointed must reach them from the Book (of decrees): until, when our messengers (of death) arrive and take their souls, they say: "Where are the things that ye used to invoke besides Allah?" They will reply, "They have left us in the lurch," And they will bear witness against themselves, that they had rejected Allah.

So Shu'aib left them, saying: "O my people! I did indeed convey to you the messages for which I was sent by my Lord: I gave you good counsel, but how shall I lament over a people who refuse to believe!"

在那日，有些脸将变成白皙的，有些脸将变成黧黑的。至于脸色变黑的人（天神将对他们说）：”你们既信道之后又不信道吗？你们为不信道而尝试刑罚吧。”

你们中不信道的人们比这等人还优秀呢！还是天经中有关于你们的赦条呢？

该死的人！他是何等的忘恩！

那深知天经的人说：“转瞬间，我就把它拿来给你。”当他看见那个宝座安置在他面前的时候，他说：“这是我的主的恩惠之一，他欲以此试验我，看我是感谢者，还是孤负者。感谢者，只为自己的利益而感谢；孤负者（须知）我的主确是无求的、确是尊荣的。”

这等人，我曾把天经.智慧和预言赏赐他们。如果这些人不信这些事物，那末，我就把这些事物委托一个对于它们不会不信的民众。

他们说：“我们的心是受蒙蔽的。”不然，真主为他们不信道而弃绝他们，故他们的信仰是很少的。

当时，我与你们缔约，并将山岳树立在你们的上面，我说：“你们当坚守我所赐你们的经典，并当听从。”他们说：“我们听而不从。”他们不信道，故对犊之爱，已浸润了他们的心灵。你说：“如果你们是信士，那末，你们的信仰所命你们的真恶劣！”

犹太教徒中有一群人篡改经文，他们说：“我们听而不从”，”愿你听而不闻”，“拉仪那”，这是因为巧方谩骂，诽谤正教。假若他们说：“我们既听且从”，“你听吧”，”温助尔那”，这对他们是更好的，是更正的。但真主因他们不信道而弃绝他们，故他们除少数人外都不信道。

（我弃绝他们）因为他们破坏盟约，不信真主的迹象，枉杀众先知，并且说：“我们的心是受蒙蔽的。”不然，真主为他们不信道而封闭了他们的心， 故他们除少数人外，都不信道。

遭遇患难的时候，祈祷他的主，而归依他。然后，他赏赐他一种恩惠的时候，他就忘却以前曾祈求真主解除患难，而且为他树立若干匹敌，以致别人迷失真主的大道。你说：“你暂时享受你的不信吧！你必定是居住火狱的。

或者如遭遇倾盆大雨者，雨里有重重黑暗，又有雷和电，他们恐怕震死，故用手指塞住耳朵，以避疾雷。真主是周知不信道的人们的。

他们中有人说：“请你准我的假吧。不要使我遭遇祸害。”其实，他们正堕入祸害之中。火狱确是包围著不信道者的。

他们要求你早日昭示刑罚。火狱必定是包围不信道者的。

他也不致教你们以众天神和众先知为主宰。你们既归顺之后，他怎能教你们不信道呢？

当他们来见你们的时候，他们说：“我们已信道了。”他们带著（不信）进来，又带著（不信）出去。真主是知道他们的隐情的。

以物配主者，在供认迷信情况下，不宜管理真主的清真寺，这等人的善功已无效果，他们将来要永居火狱之中。

既信真主之后，又表示不信者--除非被迫宣称不信、内心却为信仰而坚定者--为不信而心情舒畅者将遭天谴，并受重大的刑罚。

真主打一个比喻：一个市镇，原是安全的，安稳的，丰富的给养从各方运来，但镇上的居民辜负真主的恩惠，所以真主因他们的行为而使他们尝试极度的饥荒和恐怖。

他们却不信真主，他们不久就知道了。

那是因为我的众使者曾带着许多明证来临他们，但他们不归信，故真主惩罚了他们。他确是至刚的。他的刑罚确是严厉的，

这是因为他们族中的使者显示他们许多明证，他们却说：“难道凡人也能引道我们？”故他们不信道而违背之。真主曾表示无求於他们的信仰，真主是无求的，是可颂的。

真主不为无意的誓言而责备你们，却为有意的誓言而责备你们。破坏誓言的罚金，是按自己家属的中等食量，供给十个贫民一餐的口粮，或以衣服赠送他们，或释放一个奴隶。无力济贫或释奴的人，当斋戒三日。这是你们发誓后破坏誓言时的罚金。你们应当信守自己的誓言。真主为你们如此阐明他的迹象，以便你们感谢他。

不信道者，必定要被召唤说：“真主痛恨你们，甚于你们痛恨自身，因为你们曾被召至正信，但你们不信。”

你说：“真理是从你们的主降示的，谁愿信道就让他信吧，谁不愿信道，就让他不信吧。”我已为不义的人，预备了烈火，那烈火的烟幕将笼罩他们。如果他们（为乾渴而）求救，就以一种水供他们解渴，那种水像沥青那样烧灼人面，那饮料真糟糕！那归宿真恶劣！

信道的人们啊！如果你们顺从曾受天经的一部分人，那末，他们将使你们在信道之后变成不信道的人。

在你们之前，有一些民众，曾询问过此类问题，嗣后，他们因此而变成不信道的人。

”精灵和人类的群众啊！难道你们同族中的使者没有来对你们叙述我的迹象，并警告你们将有今日的会见吗？”他们说：“我们已招认了。”尘世的生活欺骗了他们，他将招认自己原是不信道的。

假借真主的名义而造谣，或否认其迹象者，有谁比他们还不义呢？这等人将遭遇天经中为他们预定的命运，直到我的众使者来使他们死亡的时候，将对他们说：“你们从前舍真主而祈祷的（偶像），现在哪里呢？”他们将说：“他们已回避我们了。”他们将要承认自己原是不信道者。

于是，他离开他们，并且说：“我的宗族啊！我确已把我的主的使命传达给你们了，并向你们提出了忠告。我怎能哀悼不信道的民众呢！”
