And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (the towering height) of Mount (Sinai): (Saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you, and hearken (to the Law)": They said:" We hear, and we disobey:" And they had to drink into their hearts (of the taint) of the calf because of their Faithlessness. Say: "Vile indeed are the behests of your Faith if ye have any faith!"

O ye of Faith! Say not (to the Messenger) words of ambiguous import, but words of respect; and hearken (to him): To those without Faith is a grievous punishment.

That is most suitable: that they may give the evidence in its true nature and shape, or else they would fear that other oaths would be taken after their oaths. But fear Allah, and listen (to His counsel): for Allah guideth not a rebellious people:

So fear Allah as much as ye can; listen and obey and spend in charity for the benefit of your own soul and those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.

当时，我与你们缔约，并将山岳树立在你们的上面，我说：“你们当坚守我所赐你们的经典，并当听从。”他们说：“我们听而不从。”他们不信道，故对犊之爱，已浸润了他们的心灵。你说：“如果你们是信士，那末，你们的信仰所命你们的真恶劣！”

信道的人们啊！你们不要（对使者）说：“拉仪那”，你们应当说：“温助尔那”，你们应当听从。不信道者，将受痛苦的刑罚。

这种规定，更能使证人据实作证，或畏惧发誓之后誓言遭到拒绝。你们当敬畏真主，当听从命令。真主是不引导犯罪的民众的。

你们当量力地敬畏真主，你们当听从他的教训和命令，你们当施舍，那是有益於你们自己的。能戒除自身的贪吝者，确是成功的。
