So he went forth among his people in the (pride of his wordly) glitter. Said those whose aim is the Life of this World: "Oh! that we had the like of what Qarun has got! for he is truly a lord of mighty good fortune!"

But those who had been granted (true) knowledge said: "Alas for you! The reward of Allah (in the Hereafter) is best for those who believe and work righteousness: but this none shall attain, save those who steadfastly persevere (in good)."

And those who had envied his position the day before began to say on the morrow: "Ah! it is indeed Allah Who enlarges the provision or restricts it, to any of His servants He pleases! had it not been that Allah was gracious to us, He could have caused the earth to swallow us up! Ah! those who reject Allah will assuredly never prosper."

If any does good, the reward to him is better than his deed; but if any does evil, the doers of evil are only punished (to the extent) of their deeds.

We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.

Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment!

And Allah most certainly knows those who believe, and as certainly those who are Hypocrites.

And the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Follow our path, and we will bear (the consequences) of your faults." Never in the least will they bear their faults: in fact they are liars!

"For ye do worship idols besides Allah, and ye invent falsehood. The things that ye worship besides Allah have no power to give you sustenance: then seek ye sustenance from Allah, serve Him, and be grateful to Him: to Him will be your return.

The parable of those who take protectors other than Allah is that of the spider, who builds (to itself) a house; but truly the flimsiest of houses is the spider's house;- if they but knew.

And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, except with means better (than mere disputation), unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one; and it is to Him we bow (in Islam)."

Nay, here are Signs self-evident in the hearts of those endowed with knowledge: and none but the unjust reject Our Signs.

O My servants who believe! truly, spacious is My Earth: therefore serve ye Me - (and Me alone)!

Those who persevere in patience, and put their trust, in their Lord and Cherisher.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

In the long run evil in the extreme will be the End of those who do evil; for that they rejected the Signs of Allah, and held them up to ridicule.

Then those who have believed and worked righteous deeds, shall be made happy in a Mead of Delight.

And those who have rejected Faith and falsely denied our Signs and the meeting of the Hereafter,- such shall be brought forth to Punishment.

Nay, the wrong-doers (merely) follow their own lusts, being devoid of knowledge. But who will guide those whom Allah leaves astray? To them there will be no helpers.

Those who split up their Religion, and become (mere) Sects,- each party rejoicing in that which is with itself!

Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides Allah."

That He may reward those who believe and work righteous deeds, out of his Bounty. For He loves not those who reject Faith.

We did indeed send, before thee, messengers to their (respective) peoples, and they came to them with Clear Signs: then, to those who transgressed, We meted out Retribution: and it was due from Us to aid those who believed.

But those endued with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed ye did tarry, within Allah's Decree, to the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection: but ye - ye were not aware!"

So on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail the transgressors, nor will they be invited (then) to seek grace (by repentance).

verily We have propounded for men, in this Qur'an every kind of Parable: But if thou bring to them any Sign, the Unbelievers are sure to say, "Ye do nothing but talk vanities."

Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not.

So patiently persevere: for verily the promise of Allah is true: nor let those shake thy firmness, who have (themselves) no certainty of faith.

Those who establish regular Prayer, and give regular Charity, and have (in their hearts) the assurance of the Hereafter.

戈伦曾盛装出游，以豪华夸示自己的宗族。爱今世生活的人说：“但愿我们获得戈伦所获得的（财富），他确是有大福分的。”

有学识的人说：“伤哉你们！真主的报酬，对于信道而且行善的人，是更好的，只有坚忍的人得享受那种报酬。”

昨天羡慕戈伦的境遇的人说：“你不见吗？真主要使哪个仆人的给养宽裕，就使他宽裕；（要使哪个仆人的给养窘迫），就使他窘迫。假若没有真主对我们的恩典，他必使我们沦陷在地面下。你不知道吗？孤恩的人，是不会成功的。”

行善的人将得更好的报酬，作恶的人，只受作恶事的报酬。

我确已考验在他们之前的人。真主必定要知道说实话者，必定要知道说谎者。

难道做恶的人以为他们能逃出我的法网吗？他们的判定真恶劣！

真主的确知道信道者，的确知道伪信者。

不信道的人对信道的人说：“你们遵守我们的教道吧！让我们担负你们的罪过。”其实，他们绝不能担负他们的一点罪过，他们确是说谎的。

除真主外，你们只崇拜偶像，你们只捏造妄言。你们舍真主而崇拜的（偶像），不能主持你们的给养，所以，你们应当到真主那里寻求给养，你们应当崇拜他，你们应当感谢他，你们只被召归他。

有些人，舍真主而别求监护者，他们譬如蜘蛛造屋，最脆弱的房屋，确是蜘蛛的房屋。假若他们认识这个道理，（就不会崇拜偶像了）。

除依最优的方式外，你们不要与信奉天经的人辩论，除非他们中不义的人。你们应当说：“我们确信降示我们的经典，和降示你们的经典；我们所崇拜和你们所崇拜的是同一个神明，我们是归顺他的。”

不然，这是我的明显的迹象，它保存在学者的胸中，只有不义的人否认我的迹象。

我的信道的仆人们啊！我的大地确是宽大的，你们应当崇拜我。

他们是坚忍的，他们只信托他们的主。

难道他们没有在大地上旅行而观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们努力更大，前人于地方的恳植和建设，胜过他们。他们族中的使者来临他们，真主不致亏枉他们，但他们亏枉了自己，

然后恶报乃作恶者的结局，因为他们否认真主的迹象，而且加以嘲笑。

至于信道而且行善者，将在一个胜地，感觉快乐；

至于不信道而且否认我的迹象，以及后世的相会者，将被拘禁在刑罚中。

不然，不义者，无知地顺从自己的私欲。真主所误导的人，谁能引导他呢？他们绝没有援助者。

即分离自己的宗教，而各成宗派者；各派都喜欢自己所奉的宗派。

你说：你们应当在大地上旅行，因面观察前人的结局是怎样的。他们大半是以物配主的。

以便真主用他的恩典去报酬信道而且行善者。真主确是不喜爱不信道者的。

在你之前，我确已派遣了许多使者，去教化他们的宗族，那些使者就昭示他们许多明证，然后，我惩治犯罪的人。援助信士，原是我的责任。

有学问和信德者说：“依真主的前定，你们确已逗留到复活日。这就是复活日，但你们不知道。”

在那日，不义者的辩辞，无裨于自身，他们也不得邀恩。

在这《古兰经》中，我确已为众人设了各种譬喻。如果你昭示他们一种迹象，那末，不信道者必定说：“你们只是荒诞的！”

真主这样封闭无知识者的心。

你坚忍吧，真主的应许确是真实的。你不要让不坚信的人使你轻率。

行善者，谨守拜功，完纳天课，且确信后世。
