and I have been commanded
but (it) has been obscured
should We compel you (to accept) it
and you (have been) frequent
one who (can) escape (it).
[I] call Allah to witness
then she has spoken the truth,
they greatly admired him,
(will be the) recompense (of) it
Relate to them the story of Noah. Behold! he said to his people: "O my people, if it be hard on your (mind) that I should stay (with you) and commemorate the signs of Allah,- yet I put my trust in Allah. Get ye then an agreement about your plan and among your partners, so your plan be on to you dark and dubious. Then pass your sentence on me, and give me no respite.
"But if ye turn back, (consider): no reward have I asked of you: my reward is only due from Allah, and I have been commanded to be of those who submit to Allah's will (in Islam)."
Moses said: "O my people! If ye do (really) believe in Allah, then in Him put your trust if ye submit (your will to His)."

He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days - and His Throne was over the waters - that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct. But if thou wert to say to them, "Ye shall indeed be raised up after death", the Unbelievers would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious sorcery!"
Or they may say, "He forged it," Say, "Bring ye then ten suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever ye can, other than Allah!- If ye speak the truth!
He said: "O my people! See ye if (it be that) I have a Clear Sign from my Lord, and that He hath sent Mercy unto me from His own presence, but that the Mercy hath been obscured from your sight? shall we compel you to accept it when ye are averse to it?
"And O my people! I ask you for no wealth in return: my reward is from none but Allah: But I will not drive away (in contempt) those who believe: for verily they are to meet their Lord, and ye I see are the ignorant ones!
"And O my people! who would help me against Allah if I drove them away? Will ye not then take heed?
They said: "O Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?"
He said: "Truly, Allah will bring it on you if He wills,- and then, ye will not be able to frustrate it!
"Of no profit will be my counsel to you, much as I desire to give you (good) counsel, if it be that Allah willeth to leave you astray: He is your Lord! and to Him will ye return!"

Forthwith he (starts) constructing the Ark: Every time that the chiefs of his people passed by him, they threw ridicule on him. He said: "If ye ridicule us now, we (in our turn) can look down on you with ridicule likewise!
To the 'Ad People (We sent) Hud, one of their own brethren. He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. (Your other gods) ye do nothing but invent!
"O my people! I ask of you no reward for this (Message). My reward is from none but Him who created me: Will ye not then understand?
"We say nothing but that (perhaps) some of our gods may have seized thee with imbecility." He said: "I call Allah to witness, and do ye bear witness, that I am free from the sin of ascribing, to Him,
He said: "O my people! do ye see? if I have a Clear (Sign) from my Lord and He hath sent Mercy unto me from Himself,- who then can help me against Allah if I were to disobey Him? What then would ye add to my (portion) but perdition?

Said one of them: "Slay not Joseph, but if ye must do something, throw him down to the bottom of the well: he will be picked up by some caravan of travellers."
He said: "It was she that sought to seduce me - from my (true) self." And one of her household saw (this) and bore witness, (thus):- "If it be that his shirt is rent from the front, then is her tale true, and he is a liar!
When she heard of their malicious talk, she sent for them and prepared a banquet for them: she gave each of them a knife: and she said (to Joseph), "Come out before them." When they saw him, they did extol him, and (in their amazement) cut their hands: they said, "Allah preserve us! no mortal is this! this is none other than a noble angel!"
The king (of Egypt) said: "I do see (in a vision) seven fat kine, whom seven lean ones devour, and seven green ears of corn, and seven (others) withered. O ye chiefs! Expound to me my vision if it be that ye can interpret visions."
(The Egyptians) said: "What then shall be the penalty of this, if ye are (proved) to have lied?"
They said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his who did steal before (him)." But these things did Joseph keep locked in his heart, revealing not the secrets to them. He (simply) said (to himself): "Ye are the worse situated; and Allah knoweth best the truth of what ye assert!"
Then when they entered the presence of Joseph, he provided a home for his parents with himself, and said: "Enter ye Egypt (all) in safety if it please Allah."

你说:“人们啊!如果你们怀疑我的宗教,那末,我不崇拜你们舍真主而崇拜的,但我崇拜真主,他将使你们寿终。我奉命做一个信道者,
他在六日之中创造了天地万物--他的宝座原是在水上的--以便他考验你们,看你们中谁的工作是最优的。如果你说:“你们死后,是要复活的。”不信道的人们必定说:“这个只是明显的魔术。”
难道他们说他捏造经典吗?你说:“你们试拟作十章吧。你们应当舍真主而祈祷你们所能祈祷的,倘若你们是诚实的人。”
他说:“我的宗族啊!你们告诉我吧,如果我是依据从我的主降示的明证的,并且曾受过从他那里发出的慈恩,但那个明证对于你们是模糊的,难道你们憎恶它,而我们强迫你们接受它吗?
我的宗族啊!我不为传达使命而向你们索取钱财,我的报酬只归真主负担。我不驱逐信道的人们。他们必定要|见他们的主,但我认为你们是无知的民众。
我的宗族啊!如果我驱逐他们,那末,谁能保护我不受真主的惩罚?你们怎么不觉悟呢?
他们说:“努哈啊!你确已和我们争论,而且争论得太多了,你昭示我们你用来吓唬我们的惩罚吧,如果你是一个诚实的人。”
他说:“只有真主能使惩罚降临你们,如果他意欲,你们绝不能逃避天谴。
如果我欲忠告你们,而真主欲使你们迷误,那我的忠告是无济于你们的。他是你们的主,你们只被召归于他。”

他正在造船。他的宗族中的贵族们每逢从他面前走过,都嘲笑他,他说:“如果你们嘲笑我们,我们也必定要像你们嘲笑我们一样嘲笑你们。
我确已派遣阿德人的弟兄呼德去教化他们,他说:“我的宗族啊!你们应当崇拜真主,除他外,绝无应受你们崇拜的。你们只是造谣者。
我的宗族啊!我不为传达使命而向你们索取报酬,我的报酬只由造化我的主宰负担。难道你们不理解吗?
我们只想说,我们的一部分神灵使你发狂。”他说:“我求真主作证,你们也应当作证,我对于你们所用以配真主的(偶像)确是无干的。
他说:“我的宗族啊!你们告诉我吧!如果我是依据从我的主降示的明证的,并且他曾将从自己发出的慈恩赏赐了我,那末,如果我违抗了真主,谁能保证我不受他的惩罚呢?你们只能使我遭受更大的损失。

残存在真主那里的给养,对于你们是更好的,如果你们是信士。我绝不是你们的监护者。”
他说:“我的宗族啊!你们告诉我吧,如果我是依据从我的主降示的明证的,而他曾将他的佳美的给养赏赐了我,(难道我肯违背他的命令吗?)我不愿和你们背道而驰,我禁止你们犯罪,我就不犯罪,我只愿尽我所能从事改革,我的成功全凭真主的援助,我只信赖他,我只归依他。
他说:“我的宗族啊!你们告诉我吧,如果我是依据从我的主降示的明证的,而他曾将他的佳美的给养赏赐了我,(难道我肯违背他的命令吗?)我不愿和你们背道而驰,我禁止你们犯罪,我就不犯罪,我只愿尽我所能从事改革,我的成功全凭真主的援助,我只信赖他,我只归依他。
他们当中有一个发言人曾说:“你们不要杀死优素福,你们可以把他投入井里。要是你们那样做了,一些过路的旅客会把他拾去的。”
他说:“是她勾引我。”她家里的一个人作证说:“如果他的衬衣是从前面撕破的,那她说的是实话,而他是说谎的;
她听到了她们狡猾的流言蜚语,就派人去把她们邀请来,并为她们预备了一桌席,发给她们每人一把小刀,她(对优素福)说:“你出去见见她们吧。”当她们看见他的时候,她们赞扬了他,(她们都被迷住了),以致餐刀割伤了自己的手。她们说:“啊呀!这不是一个凡夫,而是一位高洁的天神。”
国王说:“我确已梦见七头胖黄牛,被七头瘦黄牛吃掉了,又梦见七穗青麦子,和七穗乾麦子。侍从们呀!你们替我圆圆这个梦。如果你们是会圆梦的人。”
他们说:“偷窃者应受什么处分呢?如果你们是说谎的人。”
他们说:“如果他偷窃,那末,他有一个哥哥从前就偷窃过。”优素福把这句话隐藏在心中,没有对他们表示出来,他暗暗他说:“你们的处境是更恶劣的。真主是知道你们所叙述的事情的。”
当他们进去见优素福的时候,他拥抱他的双亲,他说:“你们平安地进挨及吧!如果真主意欲。”
