But ye turned back thereafter: Had it not been for the Grace and Mercy of Allah to you, ye had surely been among the lost.

And remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now).

Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and beware (of evil): if ye do turn back, know ye that it is Our Messenger's duty to proclaim (the message) in the clearest manner.

And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.

"But if ye turn back, (consider): no reward have I asked of you: my reward is only due from Allah, and I have been commanded to be of those who submit to Allah's will (in Islam)."

Then, is it to be expected of you, if ye were put in authority, that ye will do mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin?

Say to the desert Arabs who lagged behind: "Ye shall be summoned (to fight) against a people given to vehement war: then shall ye fight, or they shall submit. Then if ye show obedience, Allah will grant you a goodly reward, but if ye turn back as ye did before, He will punish you with a grievous Penalty."

So obey Allah, and obey His Messenger: but if ye turn back, the duty of Our Messenger is but to proclaim (the Message) clearly and openly.

以後，你们背叛。假若没有真主赏赐你们的恩惠和慈恩，你们必定变成亏折者。

当时，我与以色列的後裔缔约，说：“你们应当只崇拜真主，并当孝敬父母，和睦亲戚，怜恤孤儿，赈济贫民，对人说善言，谨守拜功，完纳天课。”然後，你们除少数人外，都违背约言，你们是常常爽约的。

你们当服从真主，当服从使者，当防备罪恶。如果你们违背命令，那末，你们须知我的使者只负明白的通知的责任。

（这是）从真主及其使者在大朝之日传示众人的通告：真主及其使者对于以物配主者是无干的。如果你们悔过，那对于你们是更好的，如果你们背离，那末，须知你们不能逃避真主的谴责。你以痛苦的刑罚向不信道者报喜吧。

如果你们违背我的教诲，那末，我未曾向你们索取任何报酬；我的报酬只归真主负担。我曾奉命做－个顺服的人。”

假若你们执政，你们会不会在地方上作恶，并断绝亲戚的关系呢？

你对逗留在后方的游牧人说：“你们将被召去讨伐一群剽悍的民众，或他们归顺。如果你们服从（命令），真主就以优美的报酬赏赐你们；如果你们还象以前那样规避，他就使你们受痛苦的刑罚。”

你们当服从真主，当服从使者。如果你们违背命令，那末，我的使者，只负明白通知的责任。
