And remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now).

It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing.

They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -Allah knoweth it well.

But if at the time of division other relatives, or orphans or poor, are present, feed them out of the (property), and speak to them words of kindness and justice.

Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious;-

And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire (in war), a fifth share is assigned to Allah,- and to the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer,- if ye do believe in Allah and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing,- the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For Allah hath power over all things.

What Allah has bestowed on His Messenger (and taken away) from the people of the townships,- belongs to Allah,- to His Messenger and to kindred and orphans, the needy and the wayfarer; In order that it may not (merely) make a circuit between the wealthy among you. So take what the Messenger assigns to you, and deny yourselves that which he withholds from you. And fear Allah; for Allah is strict in Punishment.

当时，我与以色列的後裔缔约，说：“你们应当只崇拜真主，并当孝敬父母，和睦亲戚，怜恤孤儿，赈济贫民，对人说善言，谨守拜功，完纳天课。”然後，你们除少数人外，都违背约言，你们是常常爽约的。

你们把自己的脸转向东方和西方，都不是正义。正义是信真主，信末日，信天神，信天经，信先知，并将所爱的财产施济亲戚、孤儿、贫民、旅客、乞丐和赎取奴隶，并谨守拜功，完纳天课，履行约言，忍受穷困、患难和战争。这等人，确是忠贞的；这等人，确是敬畏的。

他们问你他们应该怎样费用，你说：“你们所费用的财产，当费用於父母、至亲、孤儿、贫民、旅客。你们无论行甚麽善功，都确是真主所全知的。”

析产的时候，如有亲戚、孤儿、贫民在场，你们当以一部分遗产周济他们，并对他们说温和的言语。

你们当崇拜真主，不要以任何物配他，当孝敬父母，当优待亲戚，当怜恤孤儿，当救济贫民，当亲爱近邻、远邻和伴侣，当款待旅客，当宽待奴仆。真主的确不喜爱傲慢的、矜夸的人。

你们应当知道：你们所获得的战利品，无论是什么，都应当以五分之一归真主、使者、至亲、孤儿、赤贫、旅客，如果你们确信真主和两军交锋而真伪判分之日，我所启示我的仆人的迹象。真主对于万事确是全能的。

城市的居民的逆产，凡真主收归使者的，都归真主、使者、至亲、孤儿、贫民和旅客，以免那些逆产，成为在你们中富豪之间周转的东西。凡使者给你们的，你们都应当接受；凡使者禁止你们的，你们都应当戒除。你们应当敬畏真主，真主确是刑罚严厉的。
