And remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now).

Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious;-

How then, when they are seized by misfortune, because of the deeds which they hands have sent forth? Then their come to thee, swearing by Allah: "We meant no more than good-will and conciliation!"

Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.

Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.

We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents: In pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth. The carrying of the (child) to his weaning is (a period of) thirty months. At length, when he reaches the age of full strength and attains forty years, he says, "O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou has bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest approve; and be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee and truly do I bow (to Thee) in Islam."

当时，我与以色列的後裔缔约，说：“你们应当只崇拜真主，并当孝敬父母，和睦亲戚，怜恤孤儿，赈济贫民，对人说善言，谨守拜功，完纳天课。”然後，你们除少数人外，都违背约言，你们是常常爽约的。

你们当崇拜真主，不要以任何物配他，当孝敬父母，当优待亲戚，当怜恤孤儿，当救济贫民，当亲爱近邻、远邻和伴侣，当款待旅客，当宽待奴仆。真主的确不喜爱傲慢的、矜夸的人。

因为曾经犯了罪而遭遇灾难，然后， 他们会来见你而指真主发誓说：“我们只图亲善与和解。”在那时，你将怎么办呢？

你说：“你们来吧，来听我宣读你们的主所禁戒你们的事项：你们不要以物配主，你们应当孝敬父母；你们不要因为贫穷而杀害自己的儿女，我供给你们和他们；你们不要临近明显的和隐微的丑事；你们不要违背真主的禁令而杀人，除非因为正义。他将这些事嘱咐你们，以便你们了解。

你的主曾下令说：你们应当只崇拜他，应当孝敬父母。如果他俩中的一人或者两人在你的堂上达到老迈，那末，你不要对他俩说：“呸！”不要喝斥他俩，你应当对他俩说有礼貌的话。

我曾命人孝敬父母；他的母亲，辛苦地怀他，辛苦地生他，他受胎和断乳的时期，共计三十个月。当他达到壮年，再达到四十岁的时候，他说：“我的主啊！求你启示我，使我感谢你所施于我和我的父母的恩惠，并行你所喜悦的善事。求你为我改善我的后裔。我确已向你悔罪，我确是一个顺服者。”
