The parable of those who take protectors other than Allah is that of the spider, who builds (to itself) a house; but truly the flimsiest of houses is the spider's house;- if they but knew.

What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

Or have We sent down authority to them, which points out to them the things to which they pay part-worship?

Even though, before they received (the rain) - just before this - they were dumb with despair!

On the Day that the Hour (of Reckoning) will be established, the transgressors will swear that they tarried not but an hour: thus were they used to being deluded!

Now no person knows what delights of the eye are kept hidden (in reserve) for them - as a reward for their (good) deeds.

For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable homes, for their (good) deeds.

Verily thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment, in the matters wherein they differ (among themselves)

And yet they had already covenanted with Allah not to turn their backs, and a covenant with Allah must (surely) be answered for.

They think that the Confederates have not withdrawn; and if the Confederates should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, and seeking news about you (from a safe distance); and if they were in your midst, they would fight but little.

Then, when We decreed (Solomon's) death, nothing showed them his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his staff: so when he fell down, the Jinns saw plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in the humiliating Penalty (of their Task).

Those who had been despised will say to the arrogant ones: "Nay! it was a plot (of yours) by day and by night: Behold! Ye (constantly) ordered us to be ungrateful to Allah and to attribute equals to Him!" They will declare (their) repentance when they see the Penalty: We shall put yokes on the necks of the Unbelievers: It would only be a requital for their (ill) Deeds.

One Day He will gather them all together, and say to the angels, "Was it you that these men used to worship?"

They will say, "Glory to Thee! our (tie) is with Thee - as Protector - not with them. Nay, but they worshipped the Jinns: most of them believed in them."

And between them and their desires, is placed a barrier, as was done in the past with their partisans: for they were indeed in suspicious (disquieting) doubt.

Ah! Alas for (My) Servants! There comes not a messenger to them but they mock him!

Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom.

That Day shall We set a seal on their mouths. But their hands will speak to us, and their feet bear witness, to all that they did.

"Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-

For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,

And there were those who said,

So Allah gave them a taste of humiliation in the present life, but greater is the punishment of the Hereafter, if they only knew!

So that Allah will turn off from them (even) the worst in their deeds and give them their reward according to the best of what they have done.

What! Do they take for intercessors others besides Allah? Say: "Even if they have no power whatever and no intelligence?"

Say: "O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of all that is hidden and open! it is Thou that wilt judge between Thy Servants in those matters about which they have differed."

For the evils of their Deeds will confront them, and they will be (completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Thus did the (generations) before them say! But all that they did was of no profit to them.

Do they not travel through the earth and see what was the End of those before them? They were even superior to them in strength, and in the traces (they have left) in the land: but Allah did call them to account for their sins, and none had they to defend them against Allah.

有些人，舍真主而别求监护者，他们譬如蜘蛛造屋，最脆弱的房屋，确是蜘蛛的房屋。假若他们认识这个道理，（就不会崇拜偶像了）。

这种今世的生活，只是娱乐和游戏；后世的住宅，确是充满生活的。假若他们知道……

难道他们没有在大地上旅行而观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们努力更大，前人于地方的恳植和建设，胜过他们。他们族中的使者来临他们，真主不致亏枉他们，但他们亏枉了自己，

难道我曾降示他们一个明证，命令他们以物配主吗？

即使在降雨之前，他们确是沮丧的。

复活时降临之日，犯罪的人发誓说他们只逗留了一霎时，他们原是这样悖谬的。

任何人都不知道已为他们贮藏了什么慰藉，以报酬他们的行为。

至于信道而且行善者，将来得以乐园为归宿，那是为了报酬他们的行为的。

复活日，你的主必定判决他们所争论的是非。

以前他们与真主确已约定，他们绝不转背。真主的盟约，是应该负责履行的。

他们以为同盟军还没有撤退，如果同盟军卷土重来，他们将希望自己在沙漠中的游牧的阿拉伯人中间，并从那里探听你们的消息，假若他们与你们相处，他们只偶尔参加战斗。

我决定他死亡的时候，只有持他的手杖的柱虫，指示他们他已经死了。当他倒下的时候，精灵们恍然大悟：假若他们能知幽玄，那末，他们未曾逗留在凌辱的刑罚中。

被欺负的人们将对骄傲的人们说：“不然！这是你们昼夜的计谋。当时，你们教我们不信真主，却为他树立许多匹敌。”当他们看见刑罚的时候，他们表示悔恨。我要反枷锁放在在信道者的脖子上，他们只受他们的行为的报酬。

在那日，他要将他们统统集合起来，然后对天神们说：“这些人崇拜过你们吗？”

他们说：“我们赞颂你超绝万物！你是我们的主，他们不是我们的奴仆。他们却是崇拜精灵的，他们大半信仰精灵。”

他们将因障碍而不能获得他们所欲望的。犹如他们的同类以前受障碍一样，他们确在烦恼的疑虑中。

哀哉众仆！只要有使者来教化他们，他们便加以愚弄。

每逢他们的主的一种迹象来临他们，他们便背弃它。

在那日，我将封闭他们的口，他们的手将对我说话，他们的脚将作证他们所行的善恶。

你们应当集合不义者和他们的伴侣，以及他们舍真主而崇拜的，

他们确是这样的：有人对他们说：“除真主外，绝无应受崇拜的”，他们就妄自尊大，

他们的确常说：

真主使他们在今世尝试凌辱，而后世的刑罚必定是更重大的。假若他们知道……

以便真主为他们而勾销他们所作的罪恶，并以他们所行的善功报酬他们。

不然，他们却舍真主而要若干说情者。你说：“即使他们没有任何主权，也不了解任何事理，他们也能说情吗？”

你说：“真主啊！天地的创造者啊！全知幽明者啊！你将为你的众仆而判决他们所争论的是非。”

他们生前所犯的罪恶，也将对他们显现出来；他们生前所嘲笑的刑罚，将来临他们。

在他们之前的人，确已说过这样的话了；但他们所获的财产，对于他们没有裨益，

难道他们没有在大地上旅行以观察前人的结局是怎样的吗？前人比他们势力更大、成绩更多；但真主因他们的罪过而惩治了他们，他们对真主没有任何保卫者。
