They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon: the blasphemers Were, not Solomon, but the evil ones, teaching men Magic, and such things as came down at babylon to the angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew!

And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression.

They thought there would be no trial (or punishment); so they became blind and deaf; yet Allah (in mercy) turned to them; yet again many of them became blind and deaf. But Allah sees well all that they do.

And know ye that your possessions and your progeny are but a trial; and that it is Allah with Whom lies your highest reward.

And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.

The Unbelievers are protectors, one of another: Unless ye do this, (protect each other), there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief.

"I know not but that it may be a trial for you, and a grant of (worldly) livelihood (to you) for a time."

There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge: if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see!

Deem not the summons of the Messenger among yourselves like the summons of one of you to another: Allah doth know those of you who slip away under shelter of some excuse: then let those beware who withstand the Messenger's order, lest some trial befall them, or a grievous penalty be inflicted on them.

Now, when trouble touches man, he cries to Us: But when We bestow a favour upon him as from Ourselves, he says, "This has been given to me because of a certain knowledge (I have)!" Nay, but this is but a trial, but most of them understand not!

Your riches and your children may be but a trial: but in the Presence of Allah, is the highest, Reward.

他们遵随众恶魔对於素莱曼的国权所宣读的诬蔑言论──素莱曼没有叛道，众恶魔却叛道了──他们教人魔术，并将巴比伦的两个天神哈鲁特和马鲁特所得的魔术教人。他们俩在教授任何人之前，必说：“我们只是试验，故你不可叛道。”他们就从他们俩学了可以离间夫妻的魔术，但不得真主的许可，他们绝不能用魔术伤害任何人。他们学了对自己有害而无益的东西。他们确已知道谁购取魔术，谁在後世绝无福分。他们只以此出卖自己，这代价真恶劣！假若他们知道，（必不肯学）。

你们当反抗他们，直到迫害消除，而宗教专为真主；如果他们停战，那末，除不义者外，你们绝不要侵犯任何人。

他们猜想没有祸害，故他们变成瞎的、聋的。嗣后，真主赦宥了他们。嗣后，他们中许多人又变成了瞎的、聋的。真主是明察他们的行为的。

你们应当知道你们的财产和子孙只是一种考验，在真主那里有重大的报酬。

你们要与他们战斗，直到迫害消除，一切宗教全为真主；如果他们停战，那末，真主确是明察他们的行为的。

不信道的人互为监护人。如果你们不遵守这个命令，那末，地方上将要发生迫害和大乱。

我不知道，这或许是对你们的考验和暂时的享受。”

有人在边缘上崇拜真主，若获福利，他就安然享受；若遭祸害， 他就轻率背叛。他将丧失今世和后世，这是明显的亏损。

你们不要把使者对于你们的召唤当作你们相互间的召唤。 真主确是认识你们中溜走者。违抗他的命令者，叫他们谨防祸患降临他们，或痛苦的刑罚降临他们！

人遭患难时，就祈祷我；一旦我把我的恩惠赏赐他，他便说：“我获得这恩惠，只因我有特殊的知识罢了。”不然！那是一种试验，但他们大半不知道。

你们的财产和子嗣，只是一种考验，真主那里有重大的报酬。
