And remember ye said: "O Moses! we cannot endure one kind of food (always); so beseech thy Lord for us to produce for us of what the earth groweth, -its pot-herbs, and cucumbers, Its garlic, lentils, and onions." He said: "Will ye exchange the better for the worse? Go ye down to any town, and ye shall find what ye want!" They were covered with humiliation and misery; they drew on themselves the wrath of Allah. This because they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah and slaying His Messengers without just cause. This because they rebelled and went on transgressing.

Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.

As to those who deny the Signs of Allah and in defiance of right, slay the prophets, and slay those who teach just dealing with mankind, announce to them a grievous penalty.

Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."

All who obey Allah and the messenger are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful fellowship!

And it is your Lord that knoweth best all beings that are in the heavens and on earth: We did bestow on some prophets more (and other) gifts than on others: and We gave to David (the gift of) the Psalms.

Those were some of the prophets on whom Allah did bestow His Grace,- of the posterity of Adam, and of those who We carried (in the Ark) with Noah, and of the posterity of Abraham and Israel of those whom We guided and chose. Whenever the Signs of (Allah) Most Gracious were rehearsed to them, they would fall down in prostrate adoration and in tears.

And remember We took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn covenant:

Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.

当时，你们说：“穆萨啊！专吃一样食物，我们绝不能忍受，所以请你替我们请求你的主，为我们生出大地所产的蔬菜──黄瓜、大蒜、扁豆和玉葱。”他说：“难道你们要以较贵的换取较贱的吗？你们到一座城里去吧！你们必得自己所请求的食物。”他们陷於卑贱和穷困中，他们应受真主的谴怒。这是因为他们不信真主的迹象，而且枉杀众先知；这又是因为他们违抗主命，超越法度。

世人原是一个民族，嗣後，他们信仰分歧，故真主派众先知作报喜者和警告者，且降示他们包含真理的经典，以便他为世人判决他们所争论的是非。惟曾受天经的人，在明证降临之後，为互相嫉妒，而对天经意见分歧，故真主依自己的意旨而引导信道的人，俾得明了他们所争论的真理。真主引导他所意欲的人走上正路。

对于不信真主的迹象，而且枉杀众先知，枉杀以正义命人者的人，你应当以痛苦的刑罚向他们报喜。

当时，真主与众先知缔约说：“我已赏赐你们经典和智慧，以后有一个使者来证实你们所有的经典，你们必须确信他，必须辅助他。”他说：“你们承认吗？你们愿意为此事而与我缔约吗?”他们说：“我们承认了。”他说：“那末，你们作证吧；我也和你们一同作证。

凡服从真主和使者的人，教与真主所护佑的众先知，忠信的人，诚笃的人，善良的人同在。这等人，是很好的伙伴。

你的主是知道天地万物的。我确已使一部分先知超越另一部分；我曾以经典赏赐达五德。

真主曾加以恩宠的这些先知，属于阿丹的后裔，属于我使（他们）与努哈同舟共济者的（后裔），属于易卜拉欣和易司拉仪的后裔，属于我所引导而且选拔的人，对他们宣读至仁主的启示的时候，他们俯伏下去叩头和哭泣。（此处叩头！）※

当日，我与众先知订约，与你和努哈、易卜拉欣、穆萨、麦尔彦之子尔撒订约，我与他们订庄严的盟约，

穆罕默德不是你们中任何男人的父亲，而是真主的使者，和众先知的封印。真主是全知万物的。
