And when
you said,
'O Musa!
Never will
we endure
[on]
food
(of) one (kind),
so pray
for us
(to) your Lord
to bring forth
for us
out of what
grows
the earth,
of
its herbs,
[and] its cucumbers,
[and] its garlic,
[and] its lentils,
and its onions.'
He said,
'Would you exchange
that which
[it]
(is) inferior
for that which
[it]
(is) better?
Go down
to a city,
so indeed
for you
what
you have asked (for).'
Are were struck
on them
the humiliation
and the misery
and they drew on themselves wrath
of
Allah
That (was)
because they
used to
disbelieve
in the Signs
of Allah
and kill
the Prophets
without (any)
[the] right.
That
(was) because
they disobeyed
and [they] were
transgressing.
O you who believe!
(Do) not
enter
(the) houses
(of) the Prophet
except
when
permission is given
to you
for
a meal,
without
awaiting
its preparation.
But
when
you are invited,
then enter;
and when
you have eaten,
then disperse
and not
seeking to remain
for a conversation.
Indeed,
that
was
troubling
the Prophet,
and he is shy
of (dismissing) you.
But Allah
is not shy
of
the truth.
And when
you ask them
for something
then ask them
from
behind
a screen.
That
(is) purer
for your hearts
and their hearts.
And not
is
for you
that
you trouble
(the) Messenger
(of) Allah
and not
that
you should marry
his wives
after him.
ever.
Indeed,
that
is
near
Allah
an enormity.
And remember ye said: "O Moses! we cannot endure one kind of food (always); so beseech thy Lord for us to produce for us of what the earth groweth, -its pot-herbs, and cucumbers, Its garlic, lentils, and onions." He said: "Will ye exchange the better for the worse? Go ye down to any town, and ye shall find what ye want!" They were covered with humiliation and misery; they drew on themselves the wrath of Allah. This because they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah and slaying His Messengers without just cause. This because they rebelled and went on transgressing.
O ye who believe! Enter not the Prophet's houses,- until leave is given you,- for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth. And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs. Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy Allah's Messenger, or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in Allah's sight an enormity.
当时，你们说：“穆萨啊！专吃一样食物，我们绝不能忍受，所以请你替我们请求你的主，为我们生出大地所产的蔬菜──黄瓜、大蒜、扁豆和玉葱。”他说：“难道你们要以较贵的换取较贱的吗？你们到一座城里去吧！你们必得自己所请求的食物。”他们陷於卑贱和穷困中，他们应受真主的谴怒。这是因为他们不信真主的迹象，而且枉杀众先知；这又是因为他们违抗主命，超越法度。
信士们啊！你们不要进先知的家，除非邀请你们去吃饭的时候；你们不要进去等饭熟，当请你去的时候才进去；既吃之后就当告退，不要留恋闲话，因为那会使先知感到为难，他不好意思辞退你们。真主是不耻于揭示真理的。你们向先知的妻子们索取任何物品的时候，应当在帷幕外索取，那对于你们的心和她们的心是更清白的。你们不宜使使者为难，在他之后，永不宜娶他的妻子，因为在真主看来，那是一件大罪。
