Certain of the desert Arabs round about you are hypocrites, as well as (desert Arabs) among the Medina folk: they are obstinate in hypocrisy: thou knowest them not: We know them: twice shall We punish them: and in addition shall they be sent to a grievous penalty.

So when Our decree issued, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by (special) Grace from Ourselves: We saved them from a severe penalty.

Of Allah, to Whom do belong all things in the heavens and on earth! But alas for the Unbelievers for a terrible penalty (their Unfaith will bring them)!-

As to those who have rejected (Allah), and would keep back (men) from the Way of Allah, and from the Sacred Mosque, which We have made (open) to (all) men - equal is the dweller there and the visitor from the country - and any whose purpose therein is profanity or wrong-doing - them will We cause to taste of a most Grievous Penalty.

Until We open on them a gate leading to a severe Punishment: then Lo! they will be plunged in despair therein!

We grant them their pleasure for a little while: in the end shall We drive them to a chastisement unrelenting.

Say: "I do admonish you on one point: that ye do stand up before Allah,- (It may be) in pairs, or (it may be) singly,- and reflect (within yourselves): your Companion is not possessed: he is no less than a warner to you, in face of a terrible Penalty."

When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty.

And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace, (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!"

"O our people, hearken to the one who invites (you) to Allah, and believe in him: He will forgive you your faults, and deliver you from a Penalty Grievous.

O ye who believe! Shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty?-

Say: "See ye?- If Allah were to destroy me, and those with me, or if He bestows His Mercy on us,- yet who can deliver the Unbelievers from a grievous Penalty?"

Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:

在你们四周的游牧的阿拉伯人中，有许多伪信者，在麦地那人中也有许多伪信者，他们长于伪装；你不认识他们；我却认识他们；我将两次惩罚他们，然后，他们将被送去受重大的刑罚。

当我的命令降临的时候，我因为从我发出的慈恩拯救了呼德和同他在一起信道的人们，我使他们免遭严厉的惩罚。

真主是有天地万物的。哀哉不信道者！他们将受严厉的刑罚。

不信道而且妨碍主道， 并且妨碍我使众人--定居的和游牧的--共同尊敬禁寺者，（我将使他稍稍尝试痛苦的刑罚）；谁因不义而欲在禁寺中违背正道，我将使谁稍稍尝试痛苦的刑罚。

直到我对他们开辟严刑之门的时候，他们为它而忽然变成失望者。

我使他们稍稍享受幸福，然后，强迫他们去受严厉的刑罚。

你说：“我只以一件事劝导你们，你们应当为真主而双双地或单独地站起来，然后思维。”你们的同乡，绝无疯病。在严厉的刑罚来临之前，他对你们只是一个警告者。

他遭遇患难之后，如果我使他尝试从我降下的恩惠，他必定说：“这是我用工作换来的。我不信复活时会到来。如果我被召去见我的主，则我在他那里必受至善的报酬。”我必将不信道者的行为告诉他们，我必使他们尝试严重的刑罚。

你将来要看见他们身临火刑，为卑贱而恭敬，暗中偷看。信道者将说：“亏折的人们，在复活日确是丧失自身和家属的。”真的，不义者必在永恒的刑罚中。

我们的宗族啊！你们当应答真主的号召者，而归信真主，真主将赦宥你们的一部分罪过，并使你们得免于痛苦的刑罚。

信道的人们啊！我将指示你们一种生意，它能拯救你们脱离痛苦的刑罚，好吗？

你说：“你们告诉我吧，如果真主毁灭我，和我的同道，或怜悯我们，那末，谁使不信道的人们得免於痛苦的刑罚呢？”

故你的主把一种刑罚，倾注在他们身上。
