So We sent (plagues) on them: Wholesale death, Locusts, Lice, Frogs, And Blood: Signs openly self-explained: but they were steeped in arrogance,- a people given to sin.

Make ye no excuses: ye have rejected Faith after ye had accepted it. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you, for that they are in sin.

Then after them sent We Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our Signs. But they were arrogant: they were a people in sin.

"And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him (in repentance): He will send you the skies pouring abundant rain, and add strength to your strength: so turn ye not back in sin!"

Why were there not, among the generations before you, persons possessed of balanced good sense, prohibiting (men) from mischief in the earth - except a few among them whom We saved (from harm)? But the wrong-doers pursued the enjoyment of the good things of life which were given them, and persisted in sin.

They said: "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin,

The arrogant ones will say to those who had been despised: "Was it we who kept you back from Guidance after it reached you? Nay, rather, it was ye who transgressed.

What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.

But as to those who rejected Allah, (to them will be said): "Were not Our Signs rehearsed to you? But ye were arrogant, and were a people given to sin!

They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;-

故我使水灾、蝗虫、虱子、青蛙、血液等作为明证去磨难他们。但他们自大，他们是犯罪的民众。

你们不要托辞；你们信道之后确已不信了，如果我饶恕你们中的一伙人，我将要惩治你们中的另一伙人，因为他们是犯罪的人。

在他们之后，我曾派遣穆萨和哈伦带著我的许多迹象，去教化法老和他的显贵，但他们自大，他们是犯罪的民众。

我的宗族啊！你们应当向你们的主求饶，然后归依他，他就把充足的雨水降给你们，并使你们更加富强。你们不要背离（正道）而犯罪。”

在你们之前逝去的各世代中，有德者为何不禁止众人在地方上作恶？但他们中我所拯救的少数人除外。不义的人们追随他们所享受的豪华生活。他们是犯罪的人。

他们说：“我们奉派去惩治一群犯罪的民众。

骄傲的人们将对被欺负的人们说：“当正道来临你们的时候，我们曾妨碍你们遵循正道吗？不然，你们自愿做犯罪。”

他们是更高贵的呢？还是图白的宗族是更高贵呢？在他们之前的许多民族，我已加以毁灭了；因为他们确是犯罪者。

至于不信道者，（我说）：”难道没有人对你们宣读过我的迹象吗？但你们自大，你们原是犯罪的民众。”

他们说：“我们确已奉派去惩治一群犯罪的民众，
