Would ye question your Messenger as Moses was questioned of old? but whoever changeth from Faith to Unbelief, Hath strayed without doubt from the even way.

Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude."

Then, when he turned his face towards (the land of) Madyan, he said: "I do hope that my Lord will show me the smooth and straight Path."

O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.

你们想请问你们的使者，像以前他们请问穆萨一样吗？以正信换取迷误的人，确已迷失正道了。

真主与以色列的后裔确已缔约，并从他们中派出十二个首领。真主说：“我确与你们同在。如果你们谨守拜功，完纳天课，确信我的众使者，并协助他们，并以善债借给真主，我必勾销你们的罪恶，我必让你们进入下临诸河的乐园。此后，谁不信道，谁已迷失了正路。”

当他已趋向麦德彦的时候，他说：“我的主也许指示我正道。”

信道的人们啊！你们不要以我的敌人和你们的敌人为朋友，而传送消息给他们，以示亲爱。他们不信降临你们的真理，他们为你们信仰真主--你们的主--而将使者和你们驱逐出境。如果你们从故乡迁出，是由於为我而奋斗，是由於寻求我的喜悦，（那么，你们不要以他们为朋友）。你们秘密地传送消息给他们，以示亲爱，其实，我知道你们所隐匿的和你们所显示的。你们中谁做这件事，谁已背离正道。
