And be not like a woman who breaks into untwisted strands the yarn which she has spun, after it has become strong. Nor take your oaths to practise deception between yourselves, lest one party should be more numerous than another: for Allah will test you by this; and on the Day of Judgment He will certainly make clear to you (the truth of) that wherein ye disagree.

Verily those who plight their fealty to thee do no less than plight their fealty to Allah: the Hand of Allah is over their hands: then any one who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own soul, and any one who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah,- Allah will soon grant him a great Reward.

But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and taunt you for your Faith,- fight ye the chiefs of Unfaith: for their oaths are nothing to them: that thus they may be restrained.

Will ye not fight people who violated their oaths, plotted to expel the Messenger, and took the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you? Do ye fear them? Nay, it is Allah Whom ye should more justly fear, if ye believe!

But every time We removed the penalty from them according to a fixed term which they had to fulfil,- Behold! they broke their word!

But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word.

你们不要像那个妇人，她把纺织得很结实的线又分拆成若干缕；你们以盟誓为互相欺诈的手段，因为这一族比那一族还要富庶。真主只以此事考验你们。复活日，他必为你们阐明你们所争论的是非。

与你订约的人们，其实是与真主订约；真主的手是在他们的手之上的。背约者，自受背约之害；实践与真主所订约者，真主将赏赐他重大的报酬。

如果他们在缔约之后违反盟约，而且诽谤你们的宗教，你们就应当讨伐迷信的头子们——其实，他们并无所谓盟约——以便他们停止罪行。

有一族人已经违反盟约，要想驱逐先知，而且首先进攻你们。你们怎么还不讨伐他们呢？难道你们畏惧他们吗？真主是你们更应当畏惧的，如果你们确是信士。

与你订约的人们，其实是与真主订约；真主的手是在他们的手之上的。背约者，自受背约之害；实践与真主所订约者，真主将赏赐他重大的报酬。

当我替他们暂时消除灾难的时候，他们忽然背约了。

当我解除他们所遭的刑罚的时候，他们立刻爽约。
