Say: "For me, I (work) on a clear sign from my Lord, but ye reject Him. What ye would see hastened, is not in my power. The command rests with none but Allah: He declares the truth, and He is the best of judges."

Say: "If what ye would see hastened were in my power, the matter would be settled at once between you and me. But Allah knoweth best those who do wrong."

"Would ye then believe in it at last, when it actually cometh to pass? (It will then be said): 'Ah! now? and ye wanted (aforetime) to hasten it on!'

He said: "O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy.

Say: "It may be that some of the events which ye wish to hasten on may be (close) in your pursuit!"

"Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!"

你说：“我确是依据从我的主降示的明证的，而你们却否认它。我不能主持你们要求早日实现的刑罚。一切判决，只归真主；他依理而判决，他是最公正的判决者。”

你说：“假若我能主持你们要求早日实现的刑罚，那末，我与你们之间的事情，必定被判决了。”真主是最了解不义者的。

难道要他们的刑罚降临你们的时候，你们才归依他吗？”你们确要求他的刑罚早日降临你们，现在，你们（却归依他）吗？

他说：“我的宗族啊！你们为什么在恩惠之前要求刑罚早日实现呢？你们怎么不向真主求饶，以便你们蒙主的怜悯呢？”

你说：“你们要求早日实现的，或许有一部分是临近你们的。”

你们尝试你们的刑罚吧！这就是你们要求早日实现的。
