Did you not see
[towards]
the chiefs
of
the Children
of Israel
after
Musa,
when
they said
to a Prophet
of theirs,
'Appoint
for us
a king,
we may fight
in
the way
of Allah?'
He said,
'Would
you perhaps -
if
prescribed
upon you
[the] fighting,
that not
you fight?'
They said,
'And what
for us
that not
we fight
in
the way
of Allah
while surely
we have been driven out
from
our homes
and our children?'
Yet, when
was prescribed
upon them
[the] fighting
they turned away,
except
a few
among them.
And Allah
(is) All-Knowing
of the wrongdoers.
And said
to them
their Prophet,
'Indeed,
Allah
(has) surely
raised
for you
Talut
(as) a king.'
They said,
How can be
for him
the kingship
over us,
while we
(are) more entitled
to kingship
than him,
and he has not been given
abundance
of
[the] wealth?'
He said,
'Indeed,
Allah
has chosen him
over you
and increased him
abundantly
in
[the] knowledge
and [the] physique.
and Allah
gives
His kingdom
(to) whom
He wills.
And Allah
(is) All-Encompassing.
All-Knowing.'
Hast thou not Turned thy vision to the Chiefs of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Moses? they said to a prophet (That was) among them: "Appoint for us a king, that we May fight in the cause of Allah." He said: "Is it not possible, if ye were commanded to fight, that that ye will not fight?" They said: "How could we refuse to fight in the cause of Allah, seeing that we were turned out of our homes and our families?" but when they were commanded to fight, they turned back, except a small band among them. But Allah Has full knowledge of those who do wrong.
Their Prophet said to them: "Allah hath appointed Talut as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "Allah hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things."
你不知道穆萨死後以色列人中的领袖吗？当时他们对一个同族的先知说：“请你替我们立一个国王，我们就为主道而战斗。”他说：“如果战斗成为你们的定制，你们会不战斗吗？”他们说：“我们已被敌人逐出故乡，父子离散，我们怎能不为主道而战斗呢？”战斗已成为他们的定制的时候，他们除少数人外，都违背命令了。真主是全知不义的人的。
他们的先知对他们说：“真主确已为你们立塔鲁特为国王了。”他们说：“他怎麽配做我们的国王呢？我们是比他更配做国王的，况且他没有丰富的财产。”他说：“真主确已选他为你们的领袖，并且加赐他渊博的学识和健壮的体魄。”真主常常把国权赏赐自己所意欲的人。真主是宽大的，全知的。
