Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way.

Say: "Bring forward your witnesses to prove that Allah did forbid so and so." If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord.

Then We put thee on the (right) Way of Religion: so follow thou that (Way), and follow not the desires of those who know not.

你说：“信奉天经的人呀!你们对于自己的宗教，不要无理的过分。有一伙人，以前曾自己迷误，并使许多人迷误，而且背离正道，你们不要顺从他们的私欲。”

你说：“曾见真主戒食此类禁物的见证，你们把他们召来吧！”如果他们作证，那末，你不要与他们一同作证。那些既否认我的迹象，又不信后世，而且以物配主的人，你不要顺从他们的私欲。

然后，我使你遵循关于此事的常道。你应当遵守那常道，不要顺从无知者的私欲。
