Then they ham-strung the she-camel, and insolently defied the order of their Lord, saying: "O Salih! bring about thy threats, if thou art a messenger (of Allah)!"

They said: "O Salih! thou hast been of us! a centre of our hopes hitherto! dost thou (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped? But we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which thou invitest us."

他们宰了那只母驼，违抗他们主的命令，他们并说：“撒立哈啊！你把你用来警告我们的刑罚拿来给我们看看吧，如果你是使者的话！”

他们说：“撒立哈啊！以前，你在我们中间是众望所归的，难道你禁止我们崇拜我们祖先所崇拜的（偶像）吗？我们对于你用以号召我们的事确在令人不安的怀疑之中。”
